Trappe Door - Étlap

Been going here for years. Knowing the bar is high demand, my date and I arrived there at 5.30, planning to have dinner and drinks. When we got there they told us the bar was full, but we saw there were two adults with two small children sitting at the bar. We thought the manager would ask the family to move to an available table (which there were plenty to choose from) to allow PAYING ADULTS to sit in those seats, but no. Instead we were resorted to the outskirts where we could only be served drinks. Along with no one planning to move any time soon. Was so excited to try The Trappe Door in Greenville, South Carolina. We moved to Charlotte from New York City a few years ago and truly missed a real Belgian restaurant so wanted to try it while we were on vacation. The ambience was super cool. Very dark but had amazing touches. It almost felt like we were in Brussels. They had an amazing selection of Belgian beers on draft and bottle. The food was ok. They had many options of Moules Frites- we had the coconut curry. It was a nice sized portion with a lot of broth and bread. Our daughter attended Clemson from out of state and we fell in love with Greenville. It is a beautiful city filled with wonderful restaurants. We have never had a bad experience until we decided to celebrate her latest birthday at this restaurant. She remained in Greenville after graduating We have visited many local establishments. I waited two days after our experience to give myself time to give an honest review. We did have reservations on a Thursday evening at 7:30 pm. The restaurant did not seem especially busy.
