"Thai Orchid is my go to joint for noodle soup. Although the Japanese and Vietnamese have come to be famous for their soups, Thai noodle soups is often forgotten. At Thai Orchid, my favorite soup is the tomyum noodle soup with roast pork and fish balls (nr 34). The balance of flavors (savory, sour, sweet, spice) are on point. The pork has also a nice savory flavor unlike other soups where the meats are simple boiled with no savory flavor. The fried wonton skin and fish ball adds contrasting textures to enhance the eating experience. Rice noodles are perfectly al dente and that broth is to die for! The service was good and family friendly. The food was good but they did forget the lime with our Lap Gai. It is a neat an Asian grocery store which was nice to multitask.

I ordered one of their specials; papaya salad with fries chicken and sticky rice. To my shock, I received 3 small chicken pieces, sticky rice in a small plastic bag (boil in bag? Reheated? and some papaya salad I could've made better myself! Sorry guys, this is too disappointing and I will not return.

A few days ago I tried Thai Orchid Cafe here in Oslo for the first time. It's located in the central parts of Oslo. Its not located in an area with a lot of other restaurants but that's okay. The place doesn't look much for the world and the interior is real simple and inside its a bit as a Swedish lunch restaurant. So no fantastic interior. However, the food is real good and it's among the best Thai food I've eaten in Oslo since I moved here. I haven't tried the more spicy food but from what I've heard of my girlfriend the space food could be more spicy than is common in Scandinavia in general, though that could be good to know. For good Thai food I would definitely recommend this place!
