Went to Smyth for my birthday dinner. We did the best wine pairing and I was blown away by the selection, the food, and the service. I love that it feels like you’re enjoying an amazing dinner in a friends home.

Over the last few years, Smyth has become one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. I have always really liked the loft-like setting with its open kitchen, which really sets the stage for a very comfortable evening. Service is outstanding with the wait staff always coming off as unhurried and genuine. But, the star of the show, as it should be, remains the food. The tasting menu here has a character, a style proper to Chef Shields, that is evocative of a Nordic/new American fusion of influences … – show
