"This is a casual, friendly restaurant of what I suppose one would call the "fine dining" variety. The cuisine is modern German, which means German classics done with modern touches. Their Wiener Schnitzel has an airy, savoury crust, nearly perfect. We had a little amuse-bouche of soup (I think it was lentil), whose texture and taste were delicate and creamy. For dessert I had a sort of Kaiserschmarn, revisited, with blueberries: excellent. Nice wines by the glass as well. Charming waiter."

We stayed at the hotel Kastanienhof of which the restaurant is a part. We had dinner outdoors twice during our stay and the food and service were both excellent. Our waiter and bartender treated us very well.

My wife & I ate dinner twice at the Ausspanne while staying at the Hotel Kastanienhof. We were very happy with both meals. My wife has Celiac Disease and must be on a strict gluten-free regime. The chef at the Ausspanne was more than accommodating and provided gluten-free dinners safely prepared and delicious. Highly recommend.
