"The good: We got the goulash dinner and thought it was very good with a nice dinner-sized portion. The server was quite warm and available whenever we needed something. The meh: Three stars because of the atmosphere was so-so, even on a Saturday night, the lack of transparency it was $5 for refills for small cups of club soda (I feel the server should have mentioned this before the bill came…ouch), and the Apple strudel was served pretty cold and lacked flavor. The quality of the food was prett … – show"

Rude, slow, disinterested service and a lame brunch menu prepared poorly — I would definitely stay away, at least for brunch.

Don't be fooled by the quiet environment and the lack of beer selection. What they lack in quantity is more than made up for in quality. This restaurant (in the bottom of the Czech Consulate) is a really unique and fun place to eat. Their beer is really high quality, hard to find elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit.

Honestly one of my favorite restaurants in New York, if only because I know of anywhere else to get authentic svickova and budvar for reasonable prices. Also, fried cheese! Reminds me of my time in Prague. The dining room is fairly big with a small bar, so this is more of a sit-down establishment than a bar scene. Reservations are generally not needed, though it can get somewhat crowded at peak weekend times.
