Izumi Japanese Steakhouse

This place is great! Wonderful food, service, and entertainment. My experience here was much better than in Benihana, no waiting of two hours for sitting and a quieter environment that allows me to have a conversation and relax (I hugely appreciate this). The food and drinks were excellent!!! The cook was very personable and created a memorable and fun experience. I?ll definitely come back with family and friends.

Izumi has been our favorite restaurant for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays until now. Therefore our family usually visit about once a month or so. Recently we went and they had signs up saying 18% service charge added to the bill . I had assumed that 18% was the tip but according to the chef that 18% stays in house (goes to owner) and the tip is completely separate. I asked another person working to make sure I understood because 20%+18% is a pretty hefty addition to an already high total. For $50, I had a perfectly prepared fillet mignon and scallops over fried rice with sauce vegetables and the most ingenious and personal feeling (almost concierge like) service. Not only was the cook one of these charismatic and entertaining types, but the owner himself has seats, serves and gives you recommendations for drinks based on simple smaller preferences and unloves. I did not have this kind of experience and service anywhere I can remember, and I am a great foodie and hard critic of fine restaurants and restaurants. My wife and I dine regularly, weekly, as we've worked very hard to earn the ability and privilege. So I don't suppose to spend my money easily. $50 is an expensive meal...
