"Came into the French Market on a recent trip out of the Ogilvie Transportation Center. I had gotten things from many of the vendors but not from here. JokeR 's is so called Cajun that makes you laugh. For sure it 's not that authentic. The stuff has to come in frozen because that 's how it tastes. A pretty small menu even for this, so there 's not that many choices. It of course has gumbo. There 's even one of these which is vegan. It 's $5 to get a pretty small bowl. This looked and tasted mostly like pepper. Bad enough to make you go crazy and get put into Arkham Asylum. Then later I was dancing down the stairs, but that 's because I was about to **** myself. My gumbo looked like a black soup with all the pepper they put in. So much pepper that I was coughing after each bite. Had to toss.

This is a very interesting take on a Shrimp po 'boy. The bread is from a French loaf, the shrimps are nicely blackened (with a little bit of spice , the iceberg lettuce is diced, the small bit of tomato (fine amount, by me is sliced, and there are delicious sliced bread and butter pickles with a nice crisp snap. (They arr from the Puckered Pickle Company. There is a creamy mayo-based remouladish dressing (they call it citrus Garlic Aoli that complements the whole very well.The whole is tasty and satisfying.
