"Such a wonderful and delicious Mexican restaurant in the heart of East Village. The food is delicious and the service is top notch. I've never been near bad service or food. It was always perfect, and also for such low prices. If anything ever was wrong, I know that the workers here would immediately correct my complaint. But over a dozen times I enjoyed one or two hours with friends. People embarrassed Des Moines when they leave 1 star instead of talking to the owners. Of course, these are the same people who could never manage a business themselves. Or maybe they're just biased. Do not punish any business with your own problems. We're lucky to have this business in our neighborhood!"

Our daughter gave us a gift certificate for hacienda vieja to thank us for sitting for her house. I like Mexican cuisine and we often visit Mexican restaurants in Des Moines. I really didn't know about this restaurant... I probably had no high expectations of being honest. We enjoyed the best Tortilla soup we've ever had. It was not a big bowl, but it was packed with chicken, cilantro and vegetables!! Absolutely delicious!! Then maybe we thought we could share something else, so we ordered a chicken quesadilla. It was huge and packed with cheese, chicken and covered with guacamole and sour cream! Yum... couldn't finish everything... even it was very cheap!!

"The Coup de gras after I ran the Des Moines Marathon: I went down to see Dirt Burger in downtown Des Moines. What I got was the best veggie burger no, the best BURGER I ever had. Why? It was muddy and savory, saucy and full of different textures. It was a perfect mouth. Like a big Mac, only without the disappointing patty and bread in the middle. I know you'll say I forgot and taste like meat. No. I know for some people the ideal burger is a meat patty with fat that runs down your arm. I understand. I have preferred a veggie burger, and I think that is more interesting with many impractical tastes, and it's health food except that with so many whole food ingredients it is somehow. But it felt really exhausting for me, especially when I recommended it with their real potato frits and the tiger sauce the staff. And she was right. As they once said on my beloved show boss! with Lenny Henry, I never had a liquid as good as in my life. They had vegan shakes that looked absolutely amazing, but I had no one to share, and I knew that I would be in pain after I had everything in... I'm funny too, but I had a granola in the hotel room I was pretty excited about. Anyway, all this and gluten-free as I ordered it on the GF reel. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I'm seriously jealous that Iowa has this joint, but it's all for the best as I would win 5 lb a week if this place was on the street."
