"Hubby and I stumbled upon R+D Kitchen by accident. The only reason why we decided to check them out was because of the name of the restaurant. It's my husband's and mine initials, so it was a must!R+D is nestled in Santa Monica on the block of Montana. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you arrive. Be prepared to feed the meter. Hubby and I had a reservation and was sat quickly. I loved the ambiance and the vibe of the place. It was pretty busy the night we went and was very lively.I wish I could say the same about the service. I'm not sure if the waitress was new or if she had too many tables to handle but man o man. Gets very busy after 5pm weekdays, and no reservations by phone. I enjoyed the sandwich-of-the-day which was the Rubenesque. I asked for the coleslaw on the side and shared it. Excellent coleslaw.Food: 5/5

The fried sole and burger were amazing. Chicken sandwich was decent, I would consider it overhyped and wouldn't get again. Carrot cake has delicious icing but too many raisins for my taste. Excellent service my water was constantly refilled quickly. Very cozy atmosphere.

You may get ignored like I was the last few times I’ve ordered takeout. 20 people whizzed past me without saying a word, I was standing at the right spot. My food had been sitting on the counter for awhile; I calmly asked for a manager. She did not apologize. She said it’s busy. She can reheat my food. Reheat? "Expensive, but based on the service food and atmosphere I?m not sure I found it quite worth it, although some of the dishes were very good. Very casual vibe. Kind of a chaotic atmosphere. There were like 5 staff for every guest, and SO many open tables but they apparently still couldn?t seat us outside without a reservation so be sure to get one. My advice based on my last experience: come for the pizza, not the pasta. The margarita pizza was delicious! Loved the thin crust. They serve the pasta on plates instead of bowls to give you less of a portion. My boyfriend?s pasta with butter, salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of Parmesan was very expensive and very good (can you really f that up? Lol). I wish I could unorder my squash ravioli, which was bland and unbalanced. I even asked for salt, pepper, and cheese after to try and give it some flavor, but to no avail. It was like the chefs totally forgot to salt the dish while cooking it. For the two of us (no alcohol and not very much food between 3 entrees), our bill was over $90, and we didn?t leave that full, so prepare for that if you?re hungry."

"It's Monday, everyone! We hope you had a restful weekend. We want to share with you one of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants in Santa Monica. We recently went back to try some new dishes on the menu at the restaurant. The grilled salmon was incredibly delicious, with juicy and perfectly cooked fish. One of our favorite sides is their dolma, which consists of grape leaves stuffed with rice and rose sauce. Another standout dish was the chicken shawarma, which was also incredibly tasty. If you're in the area, be sure to check out this restaurant. Our recommendations are the Grilled Salmon Plate and the Chicken Shawarma."

"Nikki was a fantastic ambassador of Pita House Inc. Very patient, friendly, and professional kindly explaining the best food options on the menu, what to try next time, etc.The food was also very good. I tried the chicken shawarma wrap and the hummus. I’ve personally been to Lebanon (the restaurant is owned by a Lebanese family), and this is one of the best I’ve had in the US in terms of quality, taste, and freshness.Highly recommended."
