"decided to participate in Restaurant Week (first time ever) to help us mothers 70. celebrate birthday. We started the Rave reviews of Story when we were desperate in ideas (we live about an hour west of KC and were never in Prairie Village) and decided that we should be adventurous, though it was 6pm. Our first call was to Story and without a problem, secured the first available reservation at 730 hrs. how happy is that? Our ideal table was waiting for us and the place was full! Very sophisticated young hip crowds with a mixture of groups; Shop (backet and tie), couples date night and the table next to us was a girl night out. Fast, professional and recommended service (we needed help with...

First-time customers. Story lives up to its hype from the pear and goat's cheese appetizer to the calfsuckle with cauliflower, Chanterelle mushrooms and onion rings. Even the bread, especially the Parmesan Focaccia bread, had perfect crust, crumbs and chewing. One of the best restaurants in Kansas

Rate this as the best culinary experience in my 15 years in KC area. The staff was great and always attentive, that can be hard to find. Eating was amazing, we rarely made up of 'uptown', but we loved all plates starters (ceviche, tagliatelle , entrees (pork cheeks, halibut , and dessert (donuts, sorbet . Wine is on site and sommelier was helpful. Wine according to glass selection also best in KC. (Maybe, Lidia beats from my memories.

Celebrate our 22th anniversary on Sunday. Our server, Daniel greeted us and said: “Happy Anniversary!” Nice touch. The food was delicious as the atmosphere. We sat outside and it was nice. Service was great. The Ceviche appetizer was fabulous as the rocks with cauliflower and Sunchoke purée. Daniel didn't rush us and was very helpful. The night was finished with a strawberry mousse dessert, and the cook wrote “Happy Anniversary” with dark chocolate on the top of the plate. It was a perfect night. We're coming back!

"Ooo la la!. We joined another couple for our first visit to Café Provence last week and we were all blown away by the food quality, the service, the ambiance, and the overall experience. We never expected an exquisite gem like this to be nestled in a suburban shopping center. Walking in is like being transported to a classic French restaurant on the Left Bank. The artwork and the 1950s French fashion photos combined with the way the tables were set and arranged (and the de rigueur bar area) to provide a wonderful warm welcome. The food and wine were spectacular-classic French fare executed with skill and passion. This is a family-run restaurant and the love and care that go into each offering were front and center. Some favorites: a warm octopus salad that was perfectly grilled, seasoned, and sauced; the best escargots in town; a French onion soup that bursts with layered flavors; and unbelievably skillful handlings of salmon (seared, with cabbage, mushrooms and a sublime sauce), pork (braised, with chorizo and pea risotto), chicken (sautéed, with grilled asparagus and an otherworldly Morel cream sauce), and a cod special (seared, with sautéed mushrooms, prosciutto, and a magnificent sauce). Don't miss desserts! A local woman provides freshly made sorbets that are inventive and delicious. All the other desserts are prepared in house and are perfect ways to cap a meal, especially the banana crepes and the chocolate cake. The service is friendly, impeccable, and unobtrusive. It was a perfect (and unexpected) evening; we are already planning a return."
