"It 's election night 2016 and I am sitting in Anglo-Indian restaurant, The Royal Munkey, at 438 Second Avenue at the corner of East 25 Street, in Manhattan 's Kips Bay neighborhood. The Royal Munkey is a slightly larger space than its elder sibling, The Drunken Munkey at 338 E. 92 Street, higher up on the East Side. The Royal Munkey sports a loungy interior furnished in royal blue and gold trim, with seating that is firm and cushiony to ease back onto and relax. The menu selection recaptures Old Bombay, with selections like Railway Chicken Curry, Classic Punjabi Tandoori Chicken, Sindhi Fish Curry, Goan Pork Vindalu, Butter Paneer Tikka Masala, and other colonial specialties recapturing a p...

Tasty British pub style Indian food. Not the best I've had but worth a visit. Fried okra is great and the chili cheese toast is a must have. Lamb chops were a bit dry and underwhelming. Curries are good.

great neighborhood location with attentive service. however the food was just ok. the Zoti wrap was served with fried peppers that would have been good if they were warm. the seasoning is wonderful. we ate there for Sunday brunch and it was empty, which is a shame because the food isn't bad.

This was our first time here and our party of 4 had a Black Board Eats special. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer...our server was very helpful suggesting menu items to us. We started with chicken tikka which was wonderful. We shared a briyani, lamb rogan josh, bagara baigan (eggplant) and a side order of a most interesting crispy okra. Each plate is served with rice and excellent naan. Every item we ordered was simply delicious; meats tender and sauces subtle yet very flavorful. We will be back.
