"I have read mixed reviews on The Red Snapper Inn, and don't have a ton of experience with this place going back years and years like some of the other reviewers. The place is dated somewhat, but I appreciate the charm that creates. It does feel like taking a step back in time somewhat, and the setting is very dark and cozy. It feels like a seafood restaurant walking distance from a coast that has see lots of good and bad times over the years. This place has that same weathered storm feel. Its the kind of place that seems to have its loyal local customer in a small beachy setting that also sees lots of outside vacationers come and go. This place looks to stay loyal to who it is and what its always been and isn't catering to the passers thru. That said I liked the atmosphere but if you are looking for a bright cheery vacation feeling restaurant, and beachy scenes right out the window this is not the place. If you are in the mood for darker, cozier, quiet with a bit of the older more local crowd feel this is a great choice. Wait staff was nice and I got the impression they have worked here for years. Owner was on site and walking the floor to make sure everything was running smoothly. I know its a place more known for seafood choices but I wouldn't over look the Chicken Fried Steak. I think its a excellent choice and would definitely recommend! 4 stars for me because I felt the menu could have used a few more options in the non seafood category. Also I thought their prices were a tad high for their seafood items. Waitress rarely came around to check on us, see if we needed refills, etc so I had to flag her when we needed something. Other than that no major complaints here and would certainly recommend.....but trust me don't forget the Chicken Fried Steak recommendation!"

"We made our first family vacation/long weekend getaway to Freeport/Surfside Beach. This place was recommended by a family friend and boy did it not disappoint! We had our family dog with us so learning that the patio/beach overlook allowed dogs already started things off right. We were greeted upon walking up the stairs and sat almost immediately with the most amazing view of the Gulf and beach. The waitress that we had was fantastic. Kept the drinks topped off, recommended some of her favorites and always was great about checking in. We started off with 2x orders of the boiled shrimp for appetizer and it was fantastic! Excellent seasoning, not too much spice and the cocktail sauce was definitely not store bought (which tasted amazing! . We had several drinks (Hurricanes and margaritas both which I thought tasted great. I had the grilled Gulf snapper and it was delicious! My dad had the chicken fried steak and it covered the entire plate! The dirty rice left a little to be desired but it may not have just fit my taste. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to absolutely anyone! Between the views, delicious food, and great waitress, we will definitely be back if we head to Surfside again."

"This place is a great place for lunch. Beer was ice cold and food was fantastic and it was very reasonably priced. My son had the shrimp basket and he can't stop talking about it. So, I guess we're going to make another trip over there and all get a shrimp basket. I had the steakhouse burger and it was really good. Onion rings and fried mushrooms were all good."

"My wife and I had decided to meet for dinner but wanted to eat somewhere on her way home from Galveston. I searched Surfside and found Captain's Table. I always read reviews and decided to try it.We were greated by Kristy who took great care of us. She hurried with our drinks and then gave us time to figure out what we wanted. We ordered, talked about our day and just enjoyed each other's company. Our food arrived in a timely manner and we enjoyed our hot meals. Kristy was very attentive and never needed a clue for our needs. We decided that we will include Captain's Table as one of our date night outings moving forward."

I had the grilled golf snapper and it was delicious! My father had the chicken steak and it covered the whole plate! The dirty rice left a little to wish, but he might not just have my taste. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone! Between the views, delicious food and great waitress we will definitely return when we go back to Surfside."
