"I remember when Yummy Buffet opened years ago on Lawrence and thought what a funny name for a restaurant, we have to visit! ; but in spite of being literally minutes away from our residence (on foot), we somehow never did. So when our daughter suggested trying it out a few days ago we jumped at opportunity and walked over. I would say that the closest comparison is the one with China Buffet. Place was fairly clean and busy with ample space for individual, family and party accommodations. I drove all the way from Gurnee to try this place with my family. $17 a person and barely any selections of food. Dirty, smelly, bad crowd not a safe neighborhood. I came to eat some Chinese food, but ended up Eating pizza and green beans the only thing that was edible. The one chicken selection they had was gelatinous. I've been to many buffets and this was the worst one yet.

We did not have a good experience here. The restaurant is very shabby, looks like it has seen better days. Food was generally not hot, and laced with jalapeños, nothing was really very tasty. We were ignored when we came in while the staff argued about something. Looking around, I saw stained boxes with food in them and it did not appear very clean. Sad, we'd heard it was once a good place.

I would give ZERO star for this review if Yelp let me. This buffet is the worst buffet I have ever been to. Nothing here is good, the food has no taste to it, extremely oily, food is cold not even warm. You have to self serve from drink to cleaning up the plates yourself. The buffet claim to close at 9pm however the staff will start cleaning up by 7:15pm food stop to serve. The staff were arguing in the middle of the restaurant while customer are eating. Which I thought is very unprofessional. I HIGHLy don't recommend this place. I rather just eat McDonald or other fast food place than paying $15 for this buffet. Trust me it is not WORTh it.
