"Google says they open at 8AM. I was sitting where you place your order at, at 10:05AM and no one took my order so i moved up to the last window and no one came. They were walking around and looked over at me and still, no one came to the window. I finally got out of my car and knocked on the window and roughly 5 minutes later a lady came to the window saying they open in 5 minutes so i had to pull back around. So if any of you want taco bell for breakfast on a Saturday... consider it brunch."

"The food was really good. They don't skimp on the steam, you get what you're paying for, and they cook them right. NY strip had a great crust and was really juicy. The salad bar comes with it, which is nice, and their fries were my favorite part of themeal. Our server, Brittany, also did a great job. If you need a steakhouse in the area, this'll do!"

"The food at this restaurant is cooked to order, so it may take a little time before you receive it. However, the fresh and hot food is worth the wait. I tried a variety of dishes including loaded tots, hot honey shrimp, pork belly, and Thai chili wings, and all were delicious. The spicy margarita was also very tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. I would recommend trying the loaded tots, hot honey shrimp, NC traditional jumbo wings, and wings. The price per person for dinner is between $30 and $50. Overall, I would give this restaurant a rating of 5 for food, service, and atmosphere."

"I wasn't planning to write a review for this place because I feel a bit sorry for the owner. He’s putting in the effort, but the positive reviews seem to be mostly from visitors unfamiliar with NC BBQ. I’m giving it a 3-star rating due to the excellent staff. However, when it comes to flavor, there was no smoked taste in the meat; all I could really taste was chili powder. I ordered the pulled pork, and my wife had a half chicken. Everything was overwhelmingly flavored with chili powder, even the sauces. I’m sorry, Tony, but we won’t be coming back. To others considering this place, feel free to give it a try, but I personally would prefer places like Mission BBQ, Smithfield, or Moore's."

"Within his classification. Surf Dog is the best on Topsail Island. Husband Frau Team own and operate the restaurant that has become a favorite for both local tourists. You have a varied menu from hot dog to steaks, in a casual and friendly service. Your potato chips are at home and excellent. I prefer my chips floppy or slightly cooked and during my last visit my chips were cooked somewhat more than normal. One of the owners asked if my chips were okay, I said they were okay. He knew they were overcooked and said he was training a new cook so that they were cooked again. They strive for a high customer service. Good deck for dinner outside."

"Everyone needs to check this place out! It's in a great location that needed more food options in the area, whether you're passing through on 17, or headed to/from the beach. I love the outdoor seating option, as well as being able to order from both the breakfast and lunch menus from open to close. I ordered the Southwest Omelette to go, and it was absolutely delicious! Service was fantastic, and prices are great."

"My husband and I had the most amazing experience in the Surf City Barbeque today! Our server, Steven, was very polite and respectful. We were immediately served delicious hot homemade Hush puppies. After our order, Steven brought out our sharp shrimps and flounder in less than ten minutes???? Was it delicious?????? It is difficult for most companies to keep employees today, so with a server that shows so much respect and courtesy for their guests is an additional bonus????? Steven, there is no doubt that your parents raised you well!! Thank you for being so attentive and polite! We are very appreciated by your excellent service??? Also I can't subjugate this without mentioning the owners, Guy and Rebecca Royal. This couple is a great Christian couple??? They show so much respect to their employees and guests. As inflation continues to rise, I could not help, but their menu prices have not increased. I am sure they are trying very hard to lower their prices and keep affordable! We need to promote this business as much as possible as their God feared owners work as intensively trying to keep a pleasantly affordable restaurant experience, excellent service and their food always tasty for us all."

"Some of my family and I ate at this little restaurant for the first time today. We had passed by this place before, and thought it might be worth a try sometime. Let me just say we were very pleased with our first visit! This place has some awesome food! I'm talking delicious! The hush puppies are unbelievable! And the staff was very friendly and had answers for all of our questions. We will definitely be back to this place to eat again in the future. By the way, for my vegetarian friends, this restaurant does offer a vegetable plate. Very good food!"
