"Upon arrival, the driveway was partially blocked by two cars parked haphazardly, likely due to a large bump caused by a tree root in the pavement. It's also possible that the guests at the only occupied table were unaware of the faded parking lines nearby. There were no signs directing customers on where to park—not even at the open gate leading to a public parking lot—so I can't entirely blame the other patrons.
When my sister and I entered, we were initially seated in a very chilly sunroom. However, our server graciously moved us to a warmer table, which was much more comfortable but unfortunately located right next to a curtain behind which the kitchen staff was loudly conversing. At my request, we moved once more to an even better spot since there was only one other occupied table in the entire restaurant.
We had pre-ordered the High Tea, but unfortunately, it was served on a wobbly, broken tiered server that looked like a leftover from Christmas. Out of the six decaf teas listed on the menu, only one was available because they had run out the previous week. Our visit was on the following Friday.
While the scones were tasty, they resembled sweet biscuits and were drier than I expected. The mini quiches were warm and enjoyable, though they seemed to be store-bought. The profiteroles were quaint and delicious, while the cinnamon buns were tasty but a bit heavy; they might have been better if served warm instead of cold. I ended up dunking mine in my chamomile tea, which enhanced the flavor significantly.
The fruit served was disappointing—just three slices of strawberry for two people, along with eight grapes, six blueberries, and a couple of slices of cantaloupe and pineapple. While the cantaloupe and pineapple were not sour, the other fruits were quite unripe.
The sandwiches, made from crustless white bread and cut into triangle halves instead of more refined shapes, were delightful. The cucumber, egg salad, and turkey and cheese fillings were all quite pleasing, but the chicken salad croissant truly stood out as sensational. As another table was seated nearby, it felt a bit cramped with only three tables occupied in the whole place, but fortunately, we were almost finished at that point.
Our server was pleasant and accommodating, though there was no special acknowledgment or gesture for my birthday, aside from her kind wishes as we were leaving. Overall, I had a mixed experience, but I hope for better during my next visit."
