"Duke 's Public House (pretty terrible name, not sure who Duke is... is the restaurant/bar at Delta Hotel in South Burlington, VT (Marriott bought the hotel in 2020 and there was a facelift I think. . The hotel is located directly at the exit 14E in South Burlington and SUPER conveniently to any place you want/ need to get up here. The restaurant has a very limited menu (you can see it in the first picture). But all the things on him are very good. Not complex, just good, fresh, real, well-run food. You can also see my gin and tonic with Hendrick in this first picture. A moment about Gin and Tonic: they seem easy. They are almost always very badly executed. Either served in the wrong glass (a gin and tonic should be in a Tom Collins class, as shown here or with flat tonic (UNDRINKABLE or both. At Duke they use Fever Tree Tonic. The best is there. And the right glass. So my drink is always delicious and has bubbles. Perfection. The restaurant has high seating, but is above all a huge L shaped copper top bar that is LOVELY. There are TVs and last night we had the NBA finals on one and Moana on the other. So much. The atmosphere, the service, in Duke 's furnished is my ultimate sports bar experience. I want to sit on a beautiful, airy, open, clean, slightly filled bar (the entire front wall is windows with good drinks, good service, good food and TVs. Despite the very small menu, there are ARE vegan options. The Duke's salad is vegan. The Roasted Marinated Beet Salad can be made Vegan if you do not request any cream Fraiche. These salads should be Entrees and are accordingly huge. Other, non vegetarian/vegan items come with very good potatoes or frits or seasonal vegetables and you can only get off orders. I may call it, build your own vegetarian tapas! (I'm not sure if the fries are vegan. This Caesar Salad is perhaps the best I ever had in a restaurant. As I mentioned earlier, I love Caesar Salad, but it's quite always disappointing. Not here. This crazy salad is so huge I was 't able to finish last night (I accuse my close death mother's day weekend experience and over the last baby Germ Death Cold . Excellent, crispy Romaine salad cut into correspondingly biting pieces. Just enough delicious dressing (i.e., not with dressing splashing. I'm not a fan of crumbs, but that's okay. At some point, I think I'm not gonna call a crumb... You can add a protein to your salad. I always add salmon and they do a nice job with the salmon. It comes perfectly crispy on both sides and piping hot. I didn't even put it on my salad. Just eat it as a side. There is also a roasted salmon duck that I have ordered in the past and is similar tasty, including the sides of potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Duke 's is a perfect example of how you can do something in the food industry that is simple, but also VERY WELL EXECUTED. You don't have to serve everything on earth. Do what you really do and I will show up when I get a big gin and tonic and see Giannis on a TV and Moana on the next! I really think there's room for many restaurants like Duke 's out in the bigger world."
