"As I am not always the best planner, I love to bump into a great find. We went here based on the recommendation of our pension owner and enjoyed every minute of it. Typical atmosphere with nice wooden accents and beams, a beautiful chimney and large windows to watch the beauty surrounding you. We worried a bit if we were underdressed, but not at all. Definitely a mix of all types dining and the food did not disappoint. My meat loving hubby actually ordered a vegetarian dish with mushrooms and Knödel...so yummy. I went for the traditional schnitzel. Some of the best I've had in Germany and I've tasted quite a few. My favorite was how they served the lemons on top without the rind so you could have a real citrusy flavor on top with small chunks if you like. Great price for a delicious dinner."

"For years we have been making a carnival holiday in Hinterzarten and until last year we have always been home guests in the Schwarzwaldhof; details about the hotel and the restaurant I am saving at this point, that can be all on the Internet under [here link] also the menu. Especially at the carnival time (or even at Christmas) there is a lot of going on in hints and in most restaurants you have to get really luck without booking; this applies both at lunchtime and in the evening. Individuals or couples may have luck; Groups are odd. We ate the peasant vesper plate at the peasant stable of the Schwarzwaldhof in the afternoon; as they already know and at the price of just EUR 7.00, this plate is already almost unbeatable. Two slices of coarse liver and bloodworm, each two slices of swarms, bacon and black forests of hamspeck, onion rings, cucumbers and dark peasant bread. Tastes really very good and is saturating until evening when you brush the plate completely. Here the price/performance ratio is really very harmonious; for all dishes, especially from the lunch or evening ticket, this does not apply in the Schwarzwaldhof. And for me a little manko on the edge: there is no red house but Fürstenberg! The ambience in the peasant stüble is extremely rustic and somewhat antiqued in the other restaurant rooms. The rooms are okay; above all we liked the tower room with skybed very well! Our serviceman in the Stüble was, first of all, talkable, and straight to a Lexicon on two legs; for hours, I wouldn't have carried him, good friend back or back!"

"You have to offer such a bad service. We had reserved eight people when we came in, we were given to understand by the boss, without greeting by hand signs that we can go back as it is full. After we told him that we reserved ourselves, he did not find the reservation and snorkeling tables together. I order a large mixed salad with sheep cheese and spaghetti Bognese. I asked him to bring both together and not the salad as an appetizer. I got the salad as an appetizer and waited for about 30 minutes on my dinner while everyone else had their pizza. On request, the boss said only piano, piano . After another 10 minutes I got my main course, but not what I had ordered, but spaghetti with oil and garlic. I complained the food was wrong, and the boss said it was my fault. Later he apologised in general without being really serious. As a crown he had calculated the sheep cheese at €4, the whole salad was only €8,50. We wouldn't come here anymore. Here the customer is only a king!"

"In short the best dinner we had in the black forest and if I come back to the area I would make a detour to eat here again. We were sent there for dinner by our guest house, and found the small charming place full, even on a Tuesday evening after a holiday. We did not expect to find such great food and atmosphere in a small sleepy town. The barkeep/waiter (and probably owner was extremely friendly and funny, speaking good English and recommending local dishes, often going around the room and laughing with tables. He even explained the difference between different Schnapps and how to drink it (aperitif vs. digestif depending on where in Germany you come from . The pork Fillet was the best we had in Germany, wonderfully soft and chewy. The place offers many wonderful dishes and we would definitely come back to try some more, even those the waiter suggested were too rough for tourists (like the sausage salad, which I would definitely try next time just for spite : Arrive early, as the place is small (6 7 tables and when we arrived at around 20:15 some dishes have already run out, though they did not expect so many people that night apparently."
