"On an early Saturday evening in mid-January 2024 we spontaneously decided to go to the Leonidas in Bochum to eat Greek as we were just nearby. At 17:00 the first guests were waiting for the entrance door. Most guests apparently had reserved. The friendly Greek and forward-looking boss of the house, who received us, could then give us a good table with an overview of the large guest room. The ambience of the Leonidas is a bit very strange and needy here you do not expect a Greek restaurant. It seems that there was a brewery industry here a long time ago or something similar or what it is called. All in the 70s/80s design dressed with dark wood and wood carvings and butt slices. But no matter what, the Old Scool Design couldn't scare us off. Distinguishing can be the 151 ! positions comprehensive menu, apparently from the last century, with children and senior plates why seniors eat something different than younger guests, who decides who is a senior? The main focus of the map is meat and pommeslastig, with what the German average citizen probably associates with Greek food: Gyros , Souzouki , Souvlaki , Bifteki and so on. Rhodes Plates, Hermes Plates, Marathon Plates, Athens Plates, Cyclops and so on come from the 1980s. But what kind of a Hawaii fillet with pineapples and Gouda has to look for in a Greek restaurant??? So whoever stands on a bunch of meat with fries and beer is definitely right here. Uniquely meat and of course pommeslastig no guest had ordered the disc potatoes customary in Greece were also the plates of the other guests this evening in January 2024. No matter what we were in the Leonidas because of the food that is more suitable for domestic Greek cuisine. So we ordered Zaziki, Taramosalata fish rogen puree, Calamariakia baby calamari with garlic cream, zander fillet for my wife yes in Northern Greece comes the freshwater fish Zander before , stifado, water, white wine Imiglykos and at the end a Greek coffee and a glass of Ouzo Pilavas. The Zaziki was better and more spicy than what else you get in Greek restaurants. Here you go. Also the fish rogen puree tasted excellent, as well as the fried babycalamari, which had a beautiful thin delicate beautifully spiced pannade. The Zanderfilet with a few shrimps and vegetable strips in white wine sauce, with rice and leaf salad with honey mustard dressing tasted good to my wife. I was particularly interested in the Apo Ton Fourno dishes from the oven and here in particular the Stifado beef stew dish with small onions, as Stifado is very rare to get in Greek restaurants. The meat was tender and the small onions were still nice to bite. The Sosse could have been a little thicker. The little peasant salad was boring. The Imiglykos was without a special character; also not half-sweet without the slightly sweet note. Unfortunately, the Greek coffee, which was very weak, was also disappointing. Pros: the host asked about the degree of sweetness of coffee, just as it is common in Greece outside the tourist centers and in Germany in good Greek restaurants, since after-sales is not possible. It was pleasing that there are Ouzo Pilavas here, because the boring industry Ouzo Ouzo 12 does not drink Greeks, only the Germans fall into advertising. Conclusion: Everything in everything for us unfortunately only medium. Who, on the other hand, wants to eat a lot of meat and fries, is probably a good thing in Leonidas. If I ever go to the Leonidas in Bochum, then only to taste the typical local Greek dishes that can also be found on the map, such as Mezes Midia Florinis , Melitzanes , Spanaki , Florinis , Kalokerino , Psiti Feta also Kalamaria , Chtapódi or Sykoti , Rigan ."

"FAZIT FOR THE SCHNELLEN LESER. Right next to the zoo entrance, the entrance to the city park and opposite the clinic, an Austrian in the Ruhr area. Typical Austrian cuisine and lunch table offer a very good service with exceptionally good service war management. Location: Very easy to reach by car and public transport in a well maintained white house on the outskirts of the city (initial park and zoo Bochum, opposite the hospital district, very close to the Starlight Express, parking nearby and parking garage, all a few minutes walk away. View of the house Ambiente: Over three steps you can reach a typical Austrian (Wiener Bistro/Cafe with parquet floor and with Thonet chairs as well as with round chairs with yellow fabric and small round tables, on the wall a huge table with an offer “the Kaiserbäckerei”, a white counter and a preparatory desk. A large window front opens the view of the large garden terrace adjacent to the zoo and equipped with “beer garden furniture” and a large mobile awning as well as large parasols. To the right hand enter a large longer space, equipped with parquet flooring and with a centrally laid long sisal carpet, square tables, which are provided with a white shiny table top (loaded with a soft base). Chairs with green fabrics and round armchairs covered with fabrics yellow. Large windows on all three sides, flowers and winter arrangements on the window benches, on the tables white tealight holders made of porcelain, small white porcelain plate, white paper napkins with name imprint of the restaurant, beautiful old chrom hotel cutlery. Round wall lights, coat stand and fabric-covered walls with baroque pattern and on the face a white porcelain deer head, well illuminated by a special place. cutlery decobrasch at the front of the restaurant Service: We were very kindly greeted by two middle women. Both wore black bistro aprons, white blouses with black flies, a very precise impression. After we were allowed to sit at the table (we were able to choose the table free, the boxes were handed over to us and asked for drinks. In the past, I rarely experienced such excellent service-crisis management as here in this restaurant. Later. At both ladies we felt very good and taken seriously as a guest. The selected meals are served at noon, including lunch. From the extensive menu with typical Austrian dishes (appearants, soups, main dishes, food for children, desserts, as well as from bakery a wide selection of cakes and cakes as well as an additional daily offer. We decided for lunch: pork fillet with cabbage vegetables and croquettes (9,90 € and from the main card: Wienerschnitzel vom Deutschen Kalb mit Erdäpfelvogerlsalat (21,90 €). As an appetizer, I ordered a beetle of green Veltliner soup, which I had not received, which did not disturb me in retrospect. A little later. Front: there were fresh reddish white bread in an elongated wooden box wrapped in a gray fabric napkin (2 varieties, plus a small glass with lid with fresh paprika dimmer. in advance: Bread and Dip A very beautiful beginning that stopped the first hunger. Pig fillet: Wrapped on a white oval porcelain plate with arched flag, centrally placed 2 three-finger thickness large fillet pieces of strong ham. Among them is a strong dark roast sauce, which was exchanged on request of my accompaniment for the avized mustard sauce, as well as several cabbage species (cauliflower cabbage, cabbage rabi). From the pork fillet there was a pleasant, inviting, strong aromatic scent that immediately woke up the flavor nerves. Unfortunately, the fillets were cooked somewhat too long, so they were too dry. The court guarded everything. The Wiener Schnitzel was also served on a large white porcelain plate: the first impression of a real eye-catcher! Forge the golden yellow panade, garnish a glass with plierberries and a quarter of lemon. Accompanied by a also white porcelain plate with potato salad, in oil and a large part field salad with a beautiful mustard. Wienerschnitzel potato salad and field salad The Schnitzel perfect: The calfsal is very thin, juicy, a tasty, slightly wavy panade – so must be a Wiener Schnitzel, a palate for me. Potato salad, typical Austrian, also very tasteful. The field salad is a very good refreshing companion. That was to my taste, and I will certainly repeat. And now in crisis management: When I served food, I argued that I did not receive the appetizer soup I had ordered. Affected face with the servant. She apologized immediately and offered to take the carving back immediately to bring me the soup. But I didn't give up, and I was looking forward to carving, so I didn't have a big problem. The criticism of the cooking condition of the somewhat too dry pig fillets was also immediately accepted without objection and discussion. Shortly afterwards, the managing director apologised for these Fauxpas and immediately offered a drink from the house as well as a glass of wine. He thanked the guest for this feedback so that further errors can be excluded. Espresso from the house Also apologised the other servant who had received my order and even asked a small cake as excuse. I refused, however, how M. was done after enough excuses. Conclusion: Here it was immediately clear that the service had made a feedback from the guest for kitchen and management. Without If and But this complaint was accepted and immediately the corresponding apology for the Fauxpas was carried out. I call this very exemplary and interested in the guest. Some other restaurants can cut a piece. Thanks for this reaction, dear service! Beverages: 1 bottle of mineral water 0.75 l Gerolsteiner Medium (5.80 €9, 0.2 l green Veltliner (5.60 €). Green Veltliner Mineral Water Cleaner: All rooms, including toilets, in a perfect condition, no complaints. Conclusion: A neat handmade kitchen performance. Austrian cuisine as I met her in the country and appreciated. An excellent service warfare, I look forward to the next visit. My review: 4 – again happy (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – when it comes back, 4 – again happy, 5 – again – after “Kuechenreise”"
