"A minimalist, upscale restaurant with an extensive brunch menu, offering conventional proteins, as well as, vegan and gluten free. Seven Blu Jam Cafes are in the Los Angeles area. NO CASH IS ACCEPTED. A credit or debit card must be used for payment. You are asked to give a tip before service is provided. On my many visits to BLU JAM CAFE I have found service to be excellent and have tipped accordingly. Blu Jam Cafe 's decor emulates the raw-brick ambience of a mid-century jazz club. Pictures, posters, and memorabilia of American jazz musicians are displayed. Blu Jam 's menu echoes this creative musicality. Popular cafe dishes are presented with lively twists. ¹ Both umbrella protected patio and indoor tables are offered. At this busy eatery, seating can take some time, especially on weekends. NO RESERVATIONS ARE ACCEPTED. Check in at the reception desk. When a table becomes available, a host notifies you in person or on your cell phone, then accompanies your party to the table. On our visit, the wait time estimate proved accurate. Open for breakfast and lunch, the Blu Jam Cafe holds occasional evening events that are announced on their web site. Little things make Blu Jam special. A room temperature water carafe, infused with leaves of fresh mint, is delivered by the server. If you prefer cold, ice will be supplied. Dark, rich Guatemala coffee is exclusively brewed in a French Press. The three cup carafe, brought to your table, is magnetique. Not wanting to lose a drop, I took half home in a paper take-a-way cup. Ordering is done at the reception desk, where payment is made. NO CASH IS ACCEPTED. Payment must be made from a debit or credit card. Your meal is delivered to your table. When asked, the knowledgeable hostess helped us make selections, by describing the ingredients, The kitchen uses meats that are antibiotic, nitrate, and hormone free. When possible, the vegetables are organic. I ordered Executive Chef Kamil Majer 's Tex-Mex Scramble. Thin slices of tofu are stir fried into bite sized chunks, with black beans, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, pico de gallo, cilantro, and chipotle peppers. Slices of cool avocado crown and minced onion top this generous, mildly spiced dish. Served with a folded stack of warm corn tortillas, the vegan, Tex-Mex Scramble is highly recommended. The French Toast with fresh blueberries is huge, beautiful and, according to my wife, delicious. She took half home. Our companions, Howard and Barbara, enjoyed their meals. Howard ordered an oversized burger and Barbara designed an omelette with her favorite ingredients. Howard finished his burger, Barbara took home some omelette and fresh fruit salad. Their plates are accompanied with thick, rich, house-made ketchup and/or jam. Two specialty beers are available on tap. They have also solved my pet peeve: LOUD DISTORTED MUSIC. Their background soundtrack is solid and listenable. Jazz club experience makes a difference. The manager, Marcel, stopped by to ask, Is everything ok? It was. The restrooms are located in the rear of the cafe. They are modern and spotless. The wonderful syncopated rhythms that accompany dinning also play in the restrooms. Everything is wheelchair accessible including free, 90 minute parking. No validation is necessary. Just scan the ticket you received, when you exit. A set of level two, no fee, charging stations are located, in the underground garage, along the north wall. Elevators and escalators are provided. ¹ I was told by one of the staff that this location was actually opened by McDonald 's, as an upscale test eatery. They spared no expense. The kitchen is a stainless steel wonder. Mac 's raw brick setting now serves as a background, for the Blue Jam Cafe."

"A very pretty friend and I decided to try Bestia on a Thursday at 5pm. After arriving and entering an outdoor patio that leads into the indoor seating, we couldn't help notice the bright blue wall, nicely trimmed tree, outdoor string lights all coming together to make a quiet eating experience but my pretty woman friend wanted us to experience the inside. Inside was livelier, more people, closely positioned tables, and an open kitchen facing the eating area. Cool modern music that's not too loud. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the coconut red chili oil scallops garnished with herbs and a slice of strawberry. I was pleased with the combination of flavors. Then we shared the bone marrow pasta, which was packed with savory flavors and interesting soft textures. It was delicious. Of course, we had to try the herb ceasar salad everyone raves about when talking about Bestia, and the hype is all true. We then shared a marguarita pizza and let me say this, despite the overly salted tomato sauce, the napolitano style crust elevated the rest of the pizza ingredients. I had old sunglasses: a tequila blanco cocktail with sweet citrus flavors all well balanced, I couldn't just have 1. My pretty friend had unsweetened ice tea, which was refreshing with a subtle fruit flavor. For dessert, we shared the chocolate dessert with a crispy sweet and salty crust that complimented the rich thick chocolate mouse that was just the right amount of sweet. It's the kind of place you take an attractive friend you really, really like. Recommend you plan at least a couple of weeks ahead to get a table because this place has a big following."

"The Original Hawaiian Royal w Fried Rice Portugeuse Sausage, Char Sui (Chinese BBQ Pork), Eggs, Fried Rice, Sprouts, Onions 5! Spam Masubi spam, rice, sauce, seawood wrap 5! Hawaiian style Macaroni Salad 5! I am a fan of Hawaiian food partly because it is a wonderfully, eclectic blend of influences from other cuisines and has evolved far enough to have its own distinct culinary identity. Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe, an LA Hawaiian cafe with a few locations around the SoCal area, fully embraces the food that makes Hawaii special. Their menu includes a large list of island favorites. I was drawn towards the Royale dish, which is something that isn't available at lots of other Hawaiian places. A Royale is an egg omelette dish mixed with rice and fillings. I went with their original which includes sausage and char sui and I went for the fried rice version. It was amazing! So much flavor with all the ingredients mixed together. Every bite was magic. It was also insanely filling. I used some of the bbq sauces on the table to add a bit more kick. I love Hawaiian style macaroni salad as well as spam masubi. Had I known how big the royale was, I'd probably have just ordered that but I was keen to try some other items. No regrets! The spam masubi is always a fun dish to have. It is a nice savory sweet combo and hit the spot. Their take on the macaroni salad was also excellent. The restaruant is bright and colorful. I like that a large copy of the menu greets you at the door. There are lots of seats inside and outside on a patio. The servers were friendly and helpful. My server is who convinced me to try the royale. There is a very small parking lot connected to the restaurant but it also looked like there was lots of easy street parking. If you love Hawaiian cuisine or if you are curious what makes a great Hawaiian dish, give Rutt's a try! They have been open for a long time and have a lot of great food in their friendly, colorful location."

"I meet up with a group of 10 here (Maggiano's in Woodland Hills, CA) for a weekend lunch. The restaurant is attached to a larger building which looked to be an older mall. The restaurant interior however had a fresh modern look with the best of the classic old school bistro look. Even with its posh table cloths and stemware gracing each table, the place gave off family friendly vibes. The customer service was outstanding. Our waitress was fantastic. We ordered off the Chef's Choice Family Style Menu,It is a fixed price per person with your choice of pre selected options. All our food was delivered timely and served hot and our drinks were refilled. She took great care of us. The Chef's Choice menu gives you two salads, a Caesar and the Maggiano's; two appetizers; two pastas; two entrees; and two desserts. The salads were great. Fresh tasting with delicious dressings. We ordered calamari, crab cakes, spaghetti and meatballs, linguini and clams, shrimp scampi, beef tenderloin medallions, chocolate layer cake, and warm apple crostata. We started with complimentary warm bread rolls and oil n vinegar. Mmm. The Maggiano salad had bacon pieces, real bacon. So if you have any vegetarians in the group, you can ask for the bacon served on the side. The panko crusted fried calamari was so tender. Darn good, luved it. The spaghetti and meatball were a bit boring in taste but the wee kiddos loved it. The meatball was huge, softball sized. The linguini and clams and shrimp scampi were tasty. I liked them. Basic, classic flavors; very solid options. The beef medallions were buttery tender soft. They were served in a cream sauce with portobello mushroom with mashed potatoes. It could be ordered without the cream sauce. Being LI, I just scraped off the sauce and stayed away from the mash. Unfortunately the kitchen could not confirm if the desserts had HFCS since they were made off site. So I passed on those. They looked great and everyone gobbled them up. The serving sizes were generous except for the dessert. Ahhh come on Maggiano, don't be stingy with the desserts. Though the menu calls this family style, it is more of a banquet style with its pricing and serving size. Even with hangry adults that buzzed through most of the food, we had lots of leftovers."
