"Fabulous dinner. The pork belly appetizer was delicious. The Ad Astra bread was it’s as always, amazing. The crispy brussel sprouts were so good, that I was tempted to take an order “to go”. For the entree, my wife and I had the 7oz filet and I must say that it was one of the best filets we have ever had. A wonderful crispness on the outside, melt in your mouth tender with a flavorful sauce, tiny potatoes and snap peas. Absolutely delicious. I hope they continue to offer this dish. The only downside was the $40 corkage fee. Just a lovely place to eat."

"We were looking for a place to eat and a local recommended this place. We stayed at the lodge and usually do not eat in our hotel restaurant. This restaurant is a certain exception. My short rib-dinner dish was as good as it will. Here's something I never said. My huevos rancheros breakfast was my favorite meal of the trip."

"Lovely, simple Californian cuisine. Service is warm and welcoming—they seated us at 8 even though the cafe closed at 8:30, and we didn’t feel rushed in the least bit even though we closed the place. All the food was flavored well with simple seasoning that let the fresh ingredients shine. The combination of corn and shishito pepper was unexpected but provided a bright contrast for what was a hearty, satisfying pizza. The dessert sounded good in theory but was too strong in rose flavor. Would love to go back for a meal when back in the area."

"The place was empty, but service took forever. Finally ordered our beer. 20 minutes later we were told they were out of that beer. We couldn’t get the waitress’s attention to re-order, so I went into the bar to order a beer. Regarding food, it also took forever, and when it finally arrived, we had no plates or utensils or napkins on the table. We just ate with our hands because we couldn’t get any service. Totally amateur hour rookie run place. Horrible service. No reason to go back. Plenty of good places nearby."

"At the eastern end of Carmel Valley Village, you can easily drive past the epic ride from Carmel Valley Road towards Arroyo Seco and continue to Greenfield... You are an evil MISTAKE!!! The Running Iron has not only these very western, Cowboy type Vibe, its walls are covered with history that supports it!! Oh yes, and then the FOOD is!!! I tried several menu options and was disappointed NIE! Among my favorites are ANY the Burger, the Reuben Sandwich and the GOBBLER!! YUMMY!!! And who doesn't appreciate excellent, friendly service?!? Perfect stop at the end of a ride or motorbike ride when you come from the east, or a last stop for a bite and pot break before this fantastic ride / drive east (one of my favorites! Who knows you could just stop eating on the way out and back to dinner on the way!! Ha ha! You must visit at least once! ENJOY! BTW, if you are on a motorcycle, DON'T misses the Moto Talbott Motorcycle Museum just a few doors away. SPECTACULAR collection of rare and old motorcycles."
