"food preparation is consistently good and the service is attentive and efficient. delicious large grilled garnels and bronzino served both with cirques, a signature dish to accompany main courses. also a delicious Persian rice pudding to round the meal."

"If you’re going there as somewhere to eat, you are out of your rabid mind….But if you are picking up then bingo! When I tell you them boys can make a steak and cheese(combo) better than my mother ever could I meant it. Great taste, good portions, reasonable prices! I haven’t tried the whole menu but everything seems to have flavor. Looks can be deceiving, and this is a prime example, a must-try in the Boston neighborhood."

"Was recommended this restaurant by a chef I work with; I'm not particularly a fan of Ethiopian food but I figured I'd give it a go. Needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised; the appetizers (I ordered the Sambusa and Fitera) were simple but well made, and the hot sauce for the sambusa complemented it especially well. The entrees were amazing too the marinade on the chicken tasted great and it was very juicy despite how small the tibs were cut (which I was impressed by), and the potato stew had the perfect level of spice to it. Only thing I didn't completely enjoy was the injera, but I have never been one for injera anyway. Overall, a pleasant surprise, and easily the best Ethiopian food I've had"

"I ordered takeout. Meat Sampler was good but I almost cracked my tooth a few times on bone shards in one of the sauces. They gave us the wrong filling for the Sambusas. There was NO ICE CREAM with the Chocolate Diamond (chocolate cake). I don't know if they forgot or ran out but when you order chocolate cake with ice cream, you expect chocolate cake and ice cream. I opened the styrofoam box ready to devour and there was a chocolate puck on top of fried chips. No vanilla ice cream. They weren’t even busy when I went to pick up; restaurant was almost empty."

"Very tasty, filling, well spiced Ethiopian food. One of my favorite ethnic cuisines, Lucy serves delicious Ethiopian dishes. Even my non vegan family member enjoyed her dinner, though she did order a meat dish as part of her meal My choice is vege (menu lists as vegetarian; though the owners assure me it's actually vegan) combo of 6 items, gomen wot (chopped collards), atkilt alitcha (spiced cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes), miser alitcha (green lentils), miser wot (spicy red lentils), kik alitcha (yellow split pea stew). Served with side salad, house made injera (bread) yellow rice. Lentils veggies well cooked seasoned, without being over done. Light, fluffy rice. Gluten free injera available on request. The soothing smells platter presentation of the food had us enjoying it immediately. Almost forgot to photograph the food! Spiced teas are available, but the sweetener offered was honey. Water suited me just fine. Lovely decor. Wonderful owners. Mostly Ethiopian servers; suggest patience with ordering."

"The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. Our server Milo was very attentive and ensured our glasses were full, we had naan, and our food met our expectations. We had the appetizer combo which was a meal on its own. The chicken Sharma and lamb plates were both very good. We will definitely return. I have returned three times since my original post and have been happy each time."

"We have been coming here for years and I am truly saddened to write this. We ordered in advance for pickup tonight. It took longer than expected for the order to be prepared. And when it was, it was incomplete. We noticed this before we left and brought it to the attention of the young woman behind the counter instead of looking into it clearly, she started to dispute my claim that the entrees that we ordered did not come with a salad. It took 20 minutes to make the salads. By the time we got t … – show"

"The waitress was nice when we first came in but shortly after seating us she quickly forgot about us. It took a long time to get our drinks (water) and we waited an hour for the food. There was a gathering at the bar of the workers who clearly knew or were kin to the guest at the bar. The focus was talking and catching up with them. The young man who was not our waiter felt sorry and came to finally apologize to and check on us. My first Ethiopian restaurant experience was not a good one. The food was hot and tasted pretty good."

"I love this place. The owners have devised their space and dining experience to cultivate with literature, art, music, color and variety of dishes. There were always street parking (a different perk)! I like the colorful outdoor garden, but of course it is quite cool at this time of the year. Our favorite food is the Ethiopian vegetarian meal for two. The coffee was good. The deserts were original and unique. The diverse selection of foods and drinks would make this a favorable experience for a group of families or friends who have different tastes."

"What a cool experience ! We started off with some amazing appetizers. The cauliflower and injera rolls were amazing ! For main courses we got some of the Ethiopian specialties and a fettuccine alfredo. The Ethiopian main was not our favorite to be completely honest. It may have been because the chef left early that day but it just didn’t taste good at all in my opinion. The fettuccine alfredo was actually phenomenal, I would come back just for the Ethiopian influenced Italian dishes ! Lastly what is holding this review to 4 stars is the phenomenal dessert. I think this is one of my top 5 desserts in Dallas now. It was to die for ! Lastly, the staff and service are hands down the best you can ask for, they make you feel at home and always check up on you ! They even gave away complementary chocolate boxes to mothers on mother’s day. This was very nice of the staff, amazing folks ! I hope to come back to get the Italian dishes and the dessert and maybe give the Ethiopian food another try with the main chef there !"

"Man, I can't say enough great things about this place!!! There's food is amazing. Feels really like home cooked meals when you come to this place. I was here a few times and tried a variety of their food burgers, kabobs and lambs! MAN all I had was DE-LI-CIOUS!! Don't let me start on their coffee bar... Moroccan and specialty teas are beyond refreshing and tasteful. Remembered me at home! The owner of this restaurant is super nice and has amazing service.. I recommend to everyone to support this restaurant. You don't know what you miss"

"The chicken kebab was overly salty and lacked flavor. The falafel was mediocre and didn't taste freshly made. The portions of rice were too generous and even the sauces were too salty. On a positive note, the tzatziki, fries, and salad were good. Overall, the sides were good but the main courses were disappointing. The restroom floor was wet and slippery. I would not return to this restaurant as there are better Mediterranean options in the area."

"I don't know if this still has the restaurant attached, but I have been to the restaurant twice (December 2012 and spring of 2013) and both times the food has been superb. My classmate who is Ethiopian recommended it as her favorite restaurant so the first time we went it was for my birthday. It was my husband's first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and we both loved it. The honey wine was also delicious. The second time I went was with several classmates and it was again the best food. Some of them had not had Ethiopian food before and everyone liked it. I would highly recommend this place above some of the more popular well-frequented locations. This is more of an authentic experience. And FYI, injera as a leftover is quite good with fried eggs, onions, and peppers the next morning!"

"I took my wife to Mazza29 for her birthday since we enjoyed our last visit to this fine Ethiopian restaurant in Gainesville. We were quickly seated at a quiet corner table. In a few moments, our waiter indicated that the chef/owner had a proposition for us. The chef then came to us, introduced himself, and indicated that he wanted to prepare us a special 5 course meal with paired wines in honor of my wife's birthday. We obliged with little hesitation. We were then treated to a fantastic selection of chef inspired, well prepared courses including stuffed meatballs, Lamb lollies, monkfish with spicy polenta, chicken supreme, and a chocolate truffle that was quite possibly the best dessert I've had in 10 years! All credit to Emmanuel. He seemed to enjoy the evening as much as we did by getting off the normal menu and preparing a few spur of the moment dishes. The ambiance was very good and just what we were looking for quiet, secluded, and comfortable. We took a star away from Service due to our waiter not paying us much attention in keeping our wine and water glasses filled. That aside, the meal rather the experience, was delightful and was an incredible value. We strongly recommend trying Maza29. We will definitely be back with family and friends."
