"I've known the Russians for decades in the back. was always a very good restaurant. then it was unfortunately a few times empty, which was a pity, because the situation is back. 5 years ago some young people from the gastronomy have done together, the old house has thoroughly renovated, and a 3 star hotel, incl. restaurant with upscale cuisine, but also regional delicacies, is made. we were randomly some days after opening there and were thrilled about the quality of eating and the friendly service of the young staff. they always wanted to go back, but there are now 5 years past, and we wondered if it still exists and were pleasantly surprised. the terrace in front of the house was full of guests. we have another table, ordered rhabarber and elderberry, with pommes and salat (13 euro) and homemade maisssacks with kartoffelsalat (11 euro). my man is very hot over mais pockets, but they tasted him fantastic, just like the potato salad. with dutt and futt, as the evil say. carving, pommes and salat also fresh and good, and for the first time I was asked if I want the supplement salat before or for dinner. I ordered him to eat. this young crew has created something that is very good for the guests. the hotel rooms that I have not seen, but some flyers that there are at the entrance show a beautiful facility and many wellness offers at a reasonable price. which remains here, can also make a beautiful walk around the neighboring lake, or with a lot to the steep ascent to the lock car, where they have a great view of the surrounding dense black forest."

"Ein wahrhaftiges Kleinod im malerischen Schwarzwaldort Altensteig, mitten in der steilen Altstadt gelegen, vom einem Original an Wirtin (Christa Brakopp) schon 23 Jahre lang authentisch, ambitioniert, einzigartig geführt. Das spätgotische Gebäude wurde 1459 erstellt und zeichnet sich noch heute durch die gut erhaltene Bohlenständerbauweise aus. Im Innern der urigen Wirtschaft wurde so viel wie möglich im Zustand des letzten Jahrhunderts beibehalten: niedrige Decken, Holzböden, Holzbänke. In der winzigen Küche zaubert Christa herzhafte, grundsolide Speisen: fleischlastige Vesper, deftige Zwiebelkuchen, Gulaschsuppe, Leberkäse, in den Aktionswochen auch alle Arten von Flammkuchen oder schwäbische Spezialitäten. Am gestrigen Samstag gab es eine handgeschriebene Sonderkarte anlässlich des Altstadtfestes. Erst mal ein Lob an die umtriebige Christa: während die bräsigen umliegenden Wirte am Nachmittag noch Tür und Tor geschlossen hatten, war hier schon voller Betrieb. Zahlreiche herumirrende Tagestouristen fanden hier einen herzlichen Empfang, ein deftiges Essen und jede Menge Tipps obendrein. Ich war erst mit meinem Begleiter hier, probierte die Speisekarte rauf und runter, hielt ein Schwätzchen mit dem Nebentisch – und kam später noch mal mit Freunden wieder. Der mediterrane Fladen für 3,50 Euro passt prima zu Wein oder Mostschorle. Der Vollkornteig ist natürlich selbstgemacht, erinnert etwas an Flammkuchen, ist mit Paprika, Zwiebeln, Schafskäse belegt und mundet allen Vegetariern. Sensationell schmecken die Krautflecken für unglaublich günstige 4,50 Euro. Toll, dass uns Christa Zutaten und Zubereitungsart verrät: ein Teig aus Grünkernschrot wird mit Wurstingredienzien vermengt, nach der Art von Spätzle zubereitet und in der Pfanne mit Sauerkraut angebraten. Gut gewürzt, macht herrlich satt und glücklich. Das Mostschorle ist auch für Einsteiger geeignet, eher lieblich, an herben Apfelsaft erinnernd und gar nicht räs. Ein leicht frankophiler Anklang schlägt sich in der feinen Fleischpastete mit Gänseleber (preisgünstige 8,80 Euro mit vielfältigen, allesamt selbst gemachten, herrlich frischen Salaten nach Omas Art) und einer wermut-artigen, 40%igen Spirituose namens Génépi nieder. Das bekommt man nur hier!! Einzigartig! Fazit: Christa gibt eine geniale One-Woman-Show ab, kocht herzhaft und authentisch wie weit und breit niemand und wird zu besonderen Anlässen von einem überaus herzlichen, patenten Team assistiert. Hier wird mit alten Rezepten, saisonalen Produkten und regionalem Ursprung gearbeitet. Da alles hausgemacht wird, dauert die Zubereitung schon mal etwas länger. Doch wer Fastfood sucht, ist hier definitiv am falschen Platz. Alle anderen bleiben vor Begeisterung stundenlang sitzen, die alt eingesessenen Mitglieder des Stammtisches am Kachelofen sowieso."
