"Real Japanese people preparing real Japanese food: not just sushi and sashimi (though that's also on the menu, and with some creative choices) but also quite a few other things common in Japan. I'm not an expert (spent maybe a week or two in Japan more than ten years ago), but their stuff seemed authentic to me the three or four times I've been. Above-average sushi for sure."

They had a grand opening. Neighbours were invited for a glass of bubbly of some sort. They had a sort of sushi menu. We ordered food and drinks. After about 30 mins neither we or anyone else was getting served food or even drinks. 15 minutes later we left. We walk by all the time. Sometimes a few customers. They keep changing their focus.
