"I never write reviews and I don't have the time to write reviews, but after tonight I did the time. The Gafford was one of our favorite restaurants in the city. It's not the case after tonight. Per usual and expected the bar is occupied on Wednesday in the season at 5 pm. We were lucky to get a top two with a great waitress in the bar area. We had a fabulous service and then asked a tailor-made salad based on food restrictions only to see if it would be possible? that is where things went down the hill. The waitress explained that the kitchen was busy, and that the cook could only add some spices to their standard salads offered on their menu. We told her that we understood completely and we were grateful for what the cook could take. 10 minutes later, the cook brought out our salads that I thought would be so complementary considering how special we were until he looked at us and said he would appreciate it if we were not talking to his servers. There was a great miscommunication with the service and cook/owner and it made us feel uncomfortable. I think it's a very bad judgement to go and consult long-term customers who eat not only in your restaurant regularly, but also get their customers to your restaurant regularly. What is sad is that this little review probably doesn't mean anything because the Gafford is already such an established restaurant. Unfortunately, with more experiences like mine, it will not be a jewel in the city that everyone goes. Stuart grows so much and restaurants come to the left and right. It will come a lot more and only the best will survive."
