"When we all arrived, our server with a tattoo on his arm did not introduce himself and lacked proper service. I wanted to complain, but I didn't want to ruin the day. The server would ignore the men, even those who had been there longer, and instead ask the women for drinks, taking each drink order one by one which took an excessive amount of time. We ordered three appetizers: goat cheese fondue, calamari, and a vegetable dish. The calamari was rubbery and tiny, resembling popcorn chicken. The presentation was also subpar. The goat cheese fondue was disappointing as well, with only five slices of bread and a bowl of cheese. Our entrees arrived and although everyone enjoyed their food, it...

Our waiter, Gabriel, was awesome but the food was not great. My spinach dip was nothing but oil from the cheese and they were out of a lot of menu items.

The food lacked flavor. The side salad was made of tasteless lettuce and croutons. I was looking forward to trying the vegetarian options, so I ordered the portobello panini, but it was mostly goat cheese and peppers with very little mushroom.

I don't understand why Avenue Ale House allows reservations through Open Table. When my friend arrived first, he was informed that there was no reservation on file. When he asked about our reservation through Open Table, he was told that they do not honor reservations made through that platform. If they do not utilize Open Table, they should consider removing their restaurant to avoid frustrating customers.

"We went here for my friend's birthday and it was my first time coming to this place. When we were seated, our waiter came to ask us for any drinks to get us started and we told him we wanted to do wine tasting. He told us to hold on a second and walked off. He went to talk to a coworker and came back 5 minutes later. Then he took our wine choices. Proceeding the night, he wasn't too attentive of us and when he took our entree order, we had to repeat it three times because 2 of those times he was looking at other waiters and customers. So after the third time, he finally got our order right and went to put it in. Keep in mind it was only 2 of us and we ordered very simple entrees. When we were done he asked for any desserts and I told him we were celebrating a birthday and if the restaurant did anything for birthdays. He looked at my friend (birthday girl) and said no. That I had to buy a dessert and the restaurant doesn't offer it. I was honestly shocked on the way he said it and his only solution was for it to be bought. I've worked at restaurants before and instead of saying no, we usually just got a manager and the manager would decide to approve something or not. He didn't even offer to talk to a manager. So then I just asked for the check. Another server came by and asked if we were okay and I asked him about birthday desserts. This nice, young man said that the restaurant DID do birthday desserts and that he would work something out. He came back very quickly with a birthday dish and was very nice and attentive of us afterwards. Definitely made the night more better for us than our original waiter."
