"I had the fried garnel basket with homemade chips. the garnels were very slightly baked and very tasteful. both the garnels and the chips were drilled hot when they came to the table. the waitress was very friendly and the costs were reasonable. that's my third time here. I hear when I'm in town"

"My wife and I sat down for coffee and tea. We read the menu and talked at length with the waitress. This was all good. I wish we had been in town long enough for a meal. This is in an old house and is small. The menu, however, is big. Full cooked breakfast and lunch. Big dishes."

"My wife, sister and I stopped in for lunch.... because of allergies to certain foods, the waitress suggested the seafood burrito. The shrimp, onions and scallops in the seafood burrito was burned. The waitress was called back. Because of allergies a replacement order was not made or desired. The waitress stated we would STILL have to pay for a meal that was unsatisfactory. Even when the manager , Raul, stated the same... that once a bite was taken, we had to pay. Wrong answer. This man proceeded to argue with me that we had to pay for a bad experience. I don't think so. I told him that the two meals that were satisfactory I will pay for... but I will not pay for the inconvenience of eating in his restaurant. Los Portales, in Tappahannock, Virginia, will not receive any support or patronage from me, or any others who ask my advise about a decent place to eat..."

"oysters, oysters, oysters! When you think about tappahannock, think about these big oysters. When I order tappahannock oysters on the west coast, they cost a fortune. At first you do not expect a chic, trendy restaurant. It looks a little dated and even a little chaotic. There's not much atmosphere here, but it's about the great food here. At first, I'm never a fan of buffets. The food has always been too long and is stale. Half of our party ordered the buffet and I must admit that this was NOT the case. The food was fresh and delicious. They had regional dishes such as spoon bread, Hush puppies and even frog legs at the buffet. The price was really cheap for all foods that were placed. The buffet ends with a huge collection of fresh homemade cakes! I started my meal with the local oyster stew. The stew was wonderful. I was full of oysters. I wish I had ordered a bowl and not just a cup of this fantastic stew! Then I ordered the fried oysters. They were excellent. Huge, perfectly baked. They were not fat. Our service was friendly and felt more than eating at home in a friend than in a restaurant. This is a real regional jewel and I hope to go back again and again!"

"I would give no stars but I can't write the review I had a friend pick me up a chicken Alfredo and had no idea one would cost me $20 and they claim it's only one size and no refund when I called they were rude when I tried to explain my reason never again will I eat there.part 2. I would not eat there . Today I was heating my food up. And find out the grease was around my food like a half of a cup of cooking grease. I didn't eat it anymore. Just to see all that grease made me stop eating it ."
