"As we left Lucerne Valley, we stumbled upon Caffe 247 and thought it would be a great spot for an early dinner, conveniently located along Highway 247 heading toward Barstow. This café seems to be situated in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by quiet and a somewhat gloomy atmosphere. Upon entering the large parking lot, we were greeted by an eye-catching, oversized vehicle and a quirky "homemade tank," both of which caught our attention.
Inside, the dining room is decorated in a funky style, with walls adorned with old buttons, stickers, posters, and various knick-knacks. After taking a moment to soak in the surroundings, we browsed the extensive menu. We both chose the BBQ burger. The prices leaned toward the higher side, but in such a remote location, it was expected to pay a premium for a meal.
Once we placed our order, we stepped outside to pass the time while waiting for our food. The exterior of the café and its grounds were just as peculiar as the interior, providing plenty to explore. After a while, we received the notification that our burgers were ready, and we returned to find them waiting for us in the dining room, which was only sparsely populated.
The burgers were enormous, served on buns with tomato slices and lettuce. Additional items, such as multiple cheeses or fries, were available for an extra cost. The BBQ sauce was a rich brown color and complemented the burger perfectly. The sweet potato chips were exceptional and the highlight of the meal. We were impressed by the quality and size of the burgers, which were quite filling. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our visit.
If you find yourself traveling along Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley, I highly recommend stopping by this cozy café for a bite to eat."
