"I recommend this place to everyone who will listen. I wish I could eat here every day. if they like cafe rio, just eat them here. much better. I like the things that the freshest ingredients, like the nachos or salat or something. all ingredients are very fresh and good quality and they do not skip to eat them. therefore my favorite thing is to get the nachos al pastor. tons cheese, avacado, meat, and not filled with mostly rice like cafe rio can be. I can do everything I get here in two meal times, one of my left one the next day. another crazy delicious thing is her fresh juice. I don't know how they do it, but it tastes really and amazing, no matter...read more"

we travel all the time so we're sorry we could eat here only once. we marked it on our map to come back when we come back here. the tortas and chips were excellent. we want to come back and try more of their options. great food that my Mexican man gives him two!

Ok people, I'm not a black-eater, but I dream of the el pastor in chungas. I love the el pastor enchiladas and the quesadilla. it is not her daily queen! the mango drink is one must, and I happen to have a mild allergy on mango, but I will gladly leave chungas a little itchier. it is family-run, small and worth the line!

I have spent many years in Latin countries, and that is far and away the most authentic food I ever had in the salt lake. the al pastor, over which each raves, will not disappoint. I like the burrito, but it's huge. Moreover, the rice and the beans that I have in the regular ignorance in most Mexican restaurants are all as good as the rest of the meal. And do not forget to get one of their juice drinks. ah chungas is the best!

"I speak as a tourist. I was delighted this place has dedicated, on-the-menu options – as it is apparently open late, it would seem to be worth keeping in mind for that reason. This, and the empanada's great value, lead me to give it three stars. That said, there were some oddities. I got the vegan arepa and the vegan empanada. They were both filled with *exactly the same ingredients* and the empanada was bigger than the arepa – but the arepa costs more than 2x as much. Given these circumstances, and the fact that I liked the empanada more, I can see the empanada being a great deal for a vegan looking late night or for a bit of variety. Both of them were on the bland side, however, and far from imaginative. I did enjoy the plantains in both; otherwise, it was mainly black beans and some avocado. (From the menu, it appears that their several vegan items seem mainly to be rearranging these same ingredients. The small amount of chimichurri I was given added some flavor and was ok, but did not knock my socks off. None of it was bad, and I do think they made at least the arepa fresh with decent ingredients, but there just wasn't much flavor. Finally, they use big styrofoam packaging for to-go, which is actually enough to mean I would avoid eating here again. (Not being a local, I don't know how common this is, but I know it's not even nominally recyclable in SLC and that not all places do it. Updated from previous review on 2021-09-05"
