"Based on reviews on the Open Table website, and on the fact that the location was not far off of our travel path, we chose the Public House in Flint Hill, VA as our dinner dining option while on the way home from Shenandoah National Park 's Skyline Drive. We drove up to a wonderfully decorated property with well kept grounds providing a great view from the restaurant inside. We were seated immediately by the hostess and our server provided attentive, friendly service at a good pace throughout our meal. We sat in a well padded booth next to the Christmas tree, with windows looking out on the front nearby. Our appetizer was prepared promptly and tasted great. My sons had shrimp scampi and pas...

Great place, I'm ok with the modern decor...liked the old farmy look better...but the food is delicious and the back patio is wonderful in spring!

Great as alway's. The big bonus for dog owners is that you can take your extended family and enjoy a beautiful back yard setting. Food is prepared to order and outstanding. Dog menu as well. Staff always polite and spot on.

Flint Hill is a beautiful part of Virginia especially in the fall, but there aren't a lot of quality dining choices nearby. The Publick House is worth a visit it's as pretty and welcoming as a fine restaurant, but reasonably priced with down home selections like pork ribs (full or half rack) and steak. The ice tea with locally made Copper Ridge rye is a terrific cocktail. You can eat in the bar or in the more elegant dining room, but don't have to dress up. Jeans work fine here, even on Saturday night.

"I was planning a quick weekend trip about an hour away from Northern VA when the Blue Door Kitchen and Inn popped up in my search. I am so grateful! I booked the Washington Suite for a Saturday evening and a dinner reservation in the dining room. The experience was exceptional. Reem is the most accommating host I have ever encountered in my travels and hotel industry days. Check in was a breeze by keypad. The room was large, immaculate and beautifully luxurious. The bed, the linens, the couch ALL so comfortable. The bathroom was quite large and I want to purchase the mirror! Our room overlooked the gardens and patio and the lights in the evening were so pretty. The restaurant was modern, comfortable, casual but elegant and chic with oil paintings, rustic farmhouse doors, tin tiles and special accents. We met Reem and her staff and they could not have been kinder, taking the time to truly welcome us to their home. I was appreciative of the amount of time she and her staff took to help us decide what amazing entree we would eventually select. I went with a house favorite and had the ravioli and my husband chose a seasonal dish. We were treated like family...maybe even royalty. We had a delicious meal, spectacular wine, and dessert that made me want to clean my plate (I had the warm strudel with sour cream ice cream and my husband had the espresso chocolate mousse with frozen marscapone..honestly I would have eaten both they were so delicious! .. The next morning we drank our coffee in the gardens and enjoyed a leisurely morning. We drove into Washington, Va and Sperryville but we chose to have breakfast across the street at the quirky and delicious Skyward Cafe. It was an easy 45 minute drive to Flint Hill and I highly recommend an evening at the Blue Door Kitchen if you want to be treated like family, eat the most delicious home made pasta and meet a staff that are passionate about their menu and service. I recommend The Inn if you are interested in exploring the area and wineries. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back!"
