"I was planning a quick weekend trip about an hour away from Northern VA when the Blue Door Kitchen and Inn popped up in my search. I am so grateful! I booked the Washington Suite for a Saturday evening and a dinner reservation in the dining room. The experience was exceptional. Reem is the most accommating host I have ever encountered in my travels and hotel industry days. Check in was a breeze by keypad. The room was large, immaculate and beautifully luxurious. The bed, the linens, the couch ALL so comfortable. The bathroom was quite large and I want to purchase the mirror! Our room overlooked the gardens and patio and the lights in the evening were so pretty. The restaurant was modern, co...

Here for dinner on the patio on beautiful summer evening. Excellent food, attentive service, and lovely surroundings. Beautiful old Inn in village of Flint Hill. Graciously welcomed by the owner, whose husband is the chef. Excellent asparagus soup, Halibut, and vanilla chocolate mousse. Will be back!

We went to this restaurant on Fathers Day, given the favorable reviews.. We are from Northern Virginia and drove for 1 hours 15 minutes to this restaurant. The outdoor patio had a very pleasant atmosphere. My son and husband ordered the steak and lamb which they enjoyed quite a bit. I ordered the pasta dish that had shrimp which left me in underwhelmed, to say the least. I mentioned this to the server, who said they were sorry, then handed us the bill. We were in and out of this restaurant in less than 1 hour. They did not offer a complimentary coffee or dessert. They charged us extra for bread. Each serving of bread had 3 slices. We ordered two servings of bread, which added up. My husband’...

"Flint Hill Public House was recommended to us by the inn that my husband and I were staying at over the weekend. After hearing mixed reviews from other guests we decided to take a shot and give it a try. The dining room was beautifully decorated and we were seated promptly upon arrival. Our waitress was knowledgeable and able to make suggestions at our request. My husband and I ended up choosing the crab cakes and catfish per her recommendation. Unfortunately both entrees were quite a let down. The catfish was raw in the center and the crab cakes were runny and served with almost raw red potatoes. I love potatoes, so trust that this was not a deal breaker for me, but the crab cakes left left much to be desired. My husband and I both have many years of experience in the fine dining industry, so we are not ones to complain unless something is truly undercooked. Upon informing the waitress of our problem with the catfish, she returned to say the chef was sorry and that the cut was rather large and must have been the reason for the poor prep of the dish. At no point did the chef offer to further cook the dish or offer a dessert to make up for the poorly cooked dish. My husband and I were not looking for a free meal by any means, but when a chef acknowledges the reality of a problem and nothing is done that is a true breakdown in customer service. We will not be returning on our next visit to the area."
