"La Popular far precedes the growth and gentrification of the neighborhood but remains a decent spot to get pre-made tamales to go or supplies to make your own including their masa. Food has been more hit or miss over the last few years, would guess they are feeling the pressure of the increasing cost in the neighborhood and starting to skimp on some ingredients. I'm sure the demographic of their customers has really changed and I'm sure that's challenging. I'll still come by for some cheap and delicious tamales when I'm in the area though."

Tasty Mexican baked goods as well as various lunch fare. I strongly recommend the smothered breakfast burrito if available (though it often sells out quickly). Alternately any of the combos offered are delicious.Food: 5/5

I 've been getting their smothered beef and been green chili burrito since 2010. Always consistent. Always fast. Spoken briefly to the owner once or twice. Very cordial. He seemed grateful to me as a customer. Check 'em out!Food: 5/5

"Love this place! Absolutely zero complaints. Wife surprised me with a stay in Rino for Father’s Day with Colorado Sake being the main reason for the stay. I’m a sake enthusiast at home. Everything we tried was amazing. We spent a couple of hours and did a couple of flights along with some Kanzake(warm sake) and tried 5-6 different izikaya dishes and they were all amazing. We stumbled upon a comedy show that we didn’t even know was happening which was absolutely hilarious. I loved the place so much, I ended up going back in the morning for round 2 and tried the remaining flavors I missed the night before.Met Taylor and she was incredibly attentive and helped us get through the rest of the flavors so we could pick the 6 bottles I wanted to take home as well as recommending some amazing food options. They had ran out of take home bottles and she did everything in her power to figure out a way for me to be able to bring home the bottles we wanted. Thankfully the owner came in with more bottles right before we left. All in all, one of the best Father’s Day trips I’ve had, such good food and the best drinks.I can’t wait to go down there again. Unfortunately I have a feeling I am going to have a hard time drinking the traditional sake I’m used to because this slightly different version is so damn good!Again shoutout to Taylor and the crew for taking the greatest care of us.This place rocks!!!"
