"We came up to the area for a long weekend, and I was seriously beginning to think there were no good dining options here. Everything we ate everywhere was salty, made from a mix and overpriced. The only safe options were fast food chains. But who wants to go on vacation only to patronize McDonald's and Culver's? And I mean seriously, when McDonald's and Culver's are the NON-SALTY options, something is seriously wrong. Of course, Saturday rolled around and the brunch monster inside me was screaming to be fed, so we went looking for the best local brunch place we could find. The Merrifield Diner seemed like the best option, but based on its online presence, it was really hard to tell where it...

Well, we just drove 15 minutes out of our way to eat here, and it's completely defunct. Bummer. We're hungry.

Homemade, homemade, homemade... The French toast crunch very good! Corn beef hash would have been a 10, but we came right before closing so it had a few crispy bits (burnt). I would still have it again just earlier in the morning! The smile on our waitress was contagious. She was very good.

5 stars only because the breakfast truly was amazing, home cooking at its finest. Not a lot of options on a Sunday morning in the area but we would drive extra to go here. Issue was that we chose a very busy time (doesn't seat many), and our food took over an hour to get to us. My husband has eaten a lot of biscuits and gravy in his life coming from the south and said this was top 2. I had pancake very good, as were the thick cut bacon and hash browns. Very nice servers and worth it for us, but we enjoyed the time to chat waiting on a cloudy Sunday morning
