"This was our first visit to Perla Negra, and it won't be our last. If you are looking for Mexican food that is out of the beaten path, this place is great. Absolutely wonderful seafood dishes and no “normal” tacos and burritos. Seafood was obviously fresh, and the cocktails we had ordered lubricated as if they had been made with real juice, and no mixtures. Everything was very realistic. Our server was friendly and courteous, and the food came to the table super fast. The atmosphere was more casual than we expected, but nothing wrong with it. Loud and very pricey, this place may need a bit more time to hit its stride. The food is good, but I'd expect more for the city-like price. Cocktails were great. Also, if you want to talk at dinner, this may not be the best place because it is very loud. I hope it gets better.

Really a cute spot with fresh dishes. Friendly service. HUGE drawback... EXTREMELY loud mariachi band on a Sunday afternoon. With lofty ceilings and wide open space, we had to scream to hear each other. It was comical... take a date that is not a big conversationalist! (And the band was great... but maybe on a Friday or Saturday NIGHT?
