"We had tasted the tamales from Ruby 's around 6 years ago in the mini farmers ' market at Kaiser Sunnyvale. We instants loved them and swore to try their other fare when we could. Fast forward 6 years, this afternoon, we were watching Check Please, Bay Area which aired some great Mexican restaurant and we immediately recollected Ruby,so decided to go there for lunch. Tucked inside Quito Center a quiet strip mall in Saratoga, with ample parking, we felt it is the ideal weekend lazy lunch place. We started off with 2 Tamales the green Chicken and the Chicken n Veggies and were glad to note they have maintained their quality and standards over the years. Next we tried the fish Taco Ruby did me...

I bought a dozen tamales and they were very moist . I could say all the years I have been following the farmers market, they taste so delicious. First time trying the rice it had a good flavor and moist. Can't wait to order more for the holiday season.

This is a delightful little family owned and operated restaurant. It is very casual.: no tablecloths or cloth napkins. It is perfect for a lunch break while gardening or bicycling. The food is just delicious. The little street tacos $2.75) are filled with chunks of meat steeped in a flavorful sauce. Portions are hearty and ingredients are all very fresh. Fridays offer a special price on the taco lunch. Yum! The space is clean and very interesting. The walls offer framed antique newspaper photos of Emiliano and his cohorts. I think one of them shows him standing with Garibaldi and Pancho Villa. There are also framed photos of very old Saratoga. It 's worth a visit just to see the photos! Ruby...

"We 've eaten at Hong 's lots of time have generally enjoyed the experience. We decided it would be the perfect spot for a post-Star Wars Not Christmas dinner. We approached the meal with lower expectations because it was a holiday. And we were not disappointed. Okay, we were, but we 'd allowed for that mostly. Still, while we didn 't expect the usual attentiveness we experience, we were put off that other parties--one without a reservation--were served well before we even got our drinks. We had to ask for every, single part of the meal--including a wine list and to order--repeatedly. One dish--walnut honey prawns--was barely warm, and the walnuts had been replaced with pecans. The other, a sizzling beef special, was okay. The only thing that came quickly was the check. It was particularly galling when an older couple seated next to us as we were finishing were treated with exceptional care and attentiveness, the server going over every aspect of the meal and bringing their drinks and appetizers promptly. We couldn 't help but wonder if our poor service had something to do with being two women dining together. Maybe it was that we 'd moved from one side of the front dining room, where we were placed in front of a drafty door, to the other, where it turned out we were in front of an equally drafty window. Who knows? But on a particularly cold night, this chill added to an overall unsatisfying experience."
