"All of the walking around the museum made us very hungry. When in San Francisco, go with seafood. On a referral from my boss, Scoma’s was the place to go. Situated in the wharf area, Scoma’s is tucked away from the street, almost secluded. They process the seafood on premises – cleaning, filleting, etc. You can watch them through a picture-glass window right next to the restaurant. The interior design is nautically themed, yet classic. A long bar is near the entrance where you can have a libation while waiting for your table. The dining room is beautiful with glass on both sides of the restaurant. While there’s not much to see at night, we did watch seagulls perch on the wooden wharf beams...

This is absolutely the best place to eat when in San Francisco period. I've been eating from a lot of different places and this is the best. Hands Down. Thanks Kathleen.(waitress)

Our bartender at a Wharf hotel (who had tended there for 20 years) recommended it, so we showed up on a Wednesday night hoping to get a table for two, but it was packed with a 45 minute wait. While waiting in the bar, two primo seats opened up and we decided to sit there and eat instead. Old-school Italian seafood with many classic dishes and a loyal following that truly lives up to every bit of hype it receives. Fresh, delicious, large portions… Lovingly prepared, age old recipes did not disappoint. Incredible crab bisque and a great variety of hearty Italian-influenced seafood specialties will satisfy just about any seafood lover. I would definitely go back.
