"Wifey and I were down here on a college visit with my daughter and decided we wanted some BBQ. We searched Yelp and some local recommendations and nothing jumped out at us so we asked the woman at the front desk and she recommended Smokey Bones. It wasn't until we arrived that we realized this was a chain...and while chains tend to be pretty consistent with the quality and taste of their food I haven't had great experiences with BBQ chains. We were seated immediately and both wanted a beer. The selection here is limited so we ordered a Sam's Octoberfest and a Lagunjtas Little Sumpin' Ale. We also ordered fried pickles for an appetizer...they were delicious. For our entrees we both got combo...

Smokey Bones Jones is a halfway decent restaurant/bar located in the heart of BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse's parking lot. The bar area is pretty nice, not a fan of the area hidden away from the tvs. Drink list is good. Food is above average but not amazing.

This was not the best dining experience tonight. I will start with the dining room was extremely cold. However the hostesses were nice and toasty standing by the fireplace. The waiter was fairly new so he wasn't to familiar with menu. That's Ok! A side salad was ordered without onions and when it arrived guess what was in it.. onions. Returned to the kitchen for one without onions. They must've just picked the onions out that they saw. It came to the table with the ones they missed. Beef brisket was mostly fat.. the lady from another table sent hers back because it was mostly as well. She got a free meal for her troubles. The smoked chicken was very salty. The sweet potato fries had salt on...

First off it has taken us a LOOOOOOONNNGGG TIME of passing this chain and kind of brushing it off because it is a chain BBQ restaurant so we didn't think there could be much appetizing about it. But, after a long drive from Richmond to MD and back, we decided we were craving BBQ and this was our only option. There weren't many people there at all for dinner time which kind of put us off bc our thinking was it couldn't be much good if it was. Of everything I ordered I must say the chocolate cake was the best of it all. I did choose the platter with pulled pork, brisket, and added ribs.
