"On the way home from Burlington, VT. Before deciding to go here, I looked at the reviews and there were 4.7 stars from 1,100 reviews... And I think the rating was too low. The atmosphere is rustic, the staff is great, and the food came fast and piping hot. I have to start the salt giants. Entreés were moss glen pizza and the buffalo Mac cheese. Both are worth writing home. If you don't love Buffalo, try another food, you can't go wrong. Keep this place in mind for the next time we are in the area and want a great experience."

The wood fired pizzas were pretty good. The mushroom/drumb oil was the best. The tomato/basil/mozzarella was a bit bland. The waitress was kind. Beautiful small terrace. Overall, it was a pretty good dinner/experience. Not the best wood-fired pizza I had, but still good!

Very popular place amongst the locals. The mussels… one of the best I have ever had in the states. The wood fired cooking techniques let the natural ingredient shine. You can taste the freshness of the food. The restaurant also uses local ingredients to make the food. It has the organic flavor that restaurants in the big city cannot offer.

Excellent gastropub. I had the Bench Burger and besides its impossible size it was amazing. Perfectly cooked. It's hard to deal with a burger if you can't even crush it down to fit it in your mouth. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant struggle. The poutine was enormous and also delicious. My friend had the fish and chips that were excellent. Beer selection, in line with Vermont operations, was very good.

"Dining at Edson Hill is clearly meant to be an experience. They certainly charge you for it. At those prices, execution and flavor need to be spot on, and they just ... weren't. Pumpkin soup was so bland and thick, it was like eating flavorless applesauce. Scallops were very good, and cooked nicely, but thrown on top of a pile of spaghetti squash that, again, lacked any flavor. It was clearly squash season, but not a hint of spice or nutmeg. The duck was the highlight of the meal, and the only dish that was executed correctly. Our steak frites was so disappointing. The cut should have been saved for well done, it was not a quality piece of filet, which is the wrong steak for a frites anyways. The fries were perfect and plentiful, but when the fries outshine the steak on a frites plate, that's a problem. For $52 I expect a nice cut. Everything lacked salt and pepper. Dessert was fine, but the cheesecake didn't taste of pumpkin at all, and really didn't taste of cheesecake either, more of a slightly sour mousse cake. All in all, this was a lesson. Take your money to Montreal or the Eastern Townships. They do fine dining better, cheaper, and more casually so you don't have to play along with the stilted service only to be disappointed by the food. Edson Hill is meant for an over 50 crowd who is still more impressed by an obsequious maitre d'hotel than by properly seasoned food."
