Unagi is an ancient food source, consisting of mature fresh water Eel: a type of very fatty elongated fish. It was originally abundant in the cold water rivers and estuaries surrounding Edo Bay (now Tokyo harbor). I love unagi and Toku does unagi well. Frozen unagi from the market tends to have thicker, chewier skin but the unagi skin at Toku was tender and perfectly cooked. Sushi was okay and next time we will be back for the unagi.

THERE WERE BONES IN THE UNAGI RICE. The food itself was decent, would give it a 7/10 at best. The karage was kinda dry, salad was fresh, unagi rice was underwhelming. HOWEVER, the reason I'm giving this a 1 star is because there were BONES in the unagi and it ended up scratching my throat for days... Went to go to the hospital to get an x-ray and they said the bone may have already been swallowed but the scratch still hurts... I probably just got unlucky but for the price, I don't think it's worth the risk.
