"The food was good but not excellent. I had what was supposed to be the best burger on the island but I have eaten many burgers that are better than the one from McConkey's. On the plus side the chili on the burger really good. My son had the shtimp basket and said it was nothing special. The cocktails were uninspired. My wife had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. Other customers that entered after us were served before us. This place is tiny and seating is very crowded. The artwork on the tables by local artists is kind of neat if you like that sort of thing. When we return to Edisto, McConkey's is not on our short list of places to eat."

"The only local seafood was shrimp. Bartender did not know how to properly mix a drink. Poured the ingredients together and handed me the drink. Did not shake or stir. It was a citrus-based drink and should have been shaken. Had blackened mahi that was over cooked. Underwhelmed with the food.Steep stairs and small entrance way. Not handicap friendly. Would not go back. Service: Dine in"

"I would give this restaurant a five-star rating without a doubt. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone at my table was very satisfied with their meals. One person even said it was the best meal they had all week. The rolls were especially amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and the staff was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I even mentioned that our waitress might have been the owner because of the exceptional level of care and attention she provided. It was a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend this place."

"In my opinion, this restaurant is probably about a 3.5 star place. The food was okay, but the super friendly staff pushed it to 4 stars for me. We were there in early March, so it was not busy. We felt that the prices were a bit high for similar meals at other restaurants, but not out of the ballpark. The stuffed flounder had a crab cake inside that was not lump meat crab. (It 's hard to find that anywhere though, to be fair. All the restaurants claim Maryland style and they are always full of fillers. The portions were hearty, and the baked potato that I had with a generous plate of grilled shrimp was very good. The squash was bland. I 'm not a big fan of hush puppies to start with, but I do like the sweeter ones, and these hush puppies had an onion or garlic type of flavor that didn 't appeal to me, but I imagine some people like them. It is a clean and friendly place, though with great service."

"We were on our first trip to Edisto Beach. A week. We visited Whaley's twice for lunch and dinner. The seats are available in indoor or outdoor areas. We sat fast. Fried shrimp and flounder were from this world. Large parts. Homemade chips excellent. Coleslaw is not just filler. Very good. Great sweet tea. Do not overlook these local favorites! There are several possibilities on this relaxing slow island, but choose Whaley 's early on your holiday. You'll have time to come back!"
