"very nice restaurant with great food. my only problem was that I said at our original reservation that it was a very special birthday, so we can have the table at the kamin. I made the reservations months in advance when I also booked this inn. When I confirm, I mentioned it again and was told that they would make a note. then again when they called the day before I mentioned it and was told they would make a note. then I was told again that they would make a note. my thought was all the other comments! when we checked in after our reservation, we were a few minutes early and we said they couldn't check us in, as there were a few more before us. the tables were all literally empty, so not sure why we had to wait, but I said again, we should have the table at the fireplace and only then did the woman (which was not very nice) said they did not do any special table reservations! I had asked after 2 months and not one person said that before. also there were a few with a private table in the library all in itself, and the room is not part of the restaurant. why were they treated with a special table when I had tried to ask for a few months. that our dinner began very bad and was a special occasion that took me out."

"This place was amazing!!! We were a little overwhelmed at first. We came to the mountains for my wife 's 30th Birthday. She exclaimed that she wanted a nice dinner. We are from the Upstate of SC and don 't usually do high class restaurants. We have small children and it just doesn 't work well. But this weekend, Gramsey took the babies. Our waitress was Jay. SHE WAS FANTASTIC!!! Very personable, and knowledgeable of the menu. She could tell we weren 't use to this caliber of food but she never let us feel as though we were eating out of our league. She gave helpful recommendations and took all the time we needed to explain the fancy items on the menu. We ordered the Mushroom Fondue as an appetizer. It came out very fast and was Soooooooo good!!! My wife doesn 't eat mushrooms, but she really enjoyed it. While we were eating it, the hostess came by to check on us and was so polite. Our food came out and looked like art on a plate. My wife had the Pork Prime Rib and I had the NC Duck Breast. Forgive me for not knowing everything that came with the plates. I do know there were pickled veggies. Hers did have spinach, parmesan polenta and mine had lentils. Everything was delicious. While we were eating, the Chef, Tim, came to our table. Asked us how the food was and wished my wife a happy Birthday. He was extremely nice. Then we ordered dessert. I had the Blackberry Wine Cake and my wife had Creme Brule. These were the best desserts ever. Then a young man with a fantastic handlebar mustache named David came by, wished my wife a Happy Birthday. In fact, several of the staff did. Then when our bill came, Jay, our waitress informed us that the Chef, Tim, wanted to buy my wife 's dessert for her Birthday. It was a wonderful experience. One we never thought we would have had when we first walked in. And the view was so AMAZING!!! A painting only God could make. This place is a 10 out of 10 for sure."

"Stopped in for a late lunch yesterday afternoon. It was a 10 from start to finish. It wasn't at all crowded due to our arrival time and we basically had the back porch to ourselves. The house music was delightful and soothing and there was enough chill that they had the fireplace going. Our server Jessica made our experience even better with her pleasant demeanor and constant smile. We just wanted to relax and enjoy a nice meal as we were in no hurry whatsoever. Mission accomplished. Thanks Randall Pat Foster"

"We celebrated a birthday at this great place! There are many times and the food is consistently good and the service is good! 3 in our party had the meat and is exceptional! The Brie appetizer was delicious and amazingly delicious Vanilla bread pudding!"

"We stopped at the restaurant for lunch and were probably seated outside. There are covered and non-covered areas, as well as indoor seating. The waiter was very attentive and kind. He took our appetizer order. We got a salad to split between the two of us and devilish eggs. I was really pleased that they were willing to serve the salad separately. When we ordered the main dish, we were able to split it as well. Devilish eggs were not that great. The egg white was clearly old, so I assume they pre-boil the eggs a day or two in advance. It tasted rubbery, and the topping was nothing to brag about either. Definitely a failing grade for this dish. The salad was basic, and balsamic vinaigrette was more like a paste instead of dressing. The consistency was definitely odd. I wonder if it was made with some sort of coconut oil that might harden and cooler temperatures. We also ordered almond and cornmeal crusted trout. It was excellent. Served with cheesy grits (they have a variety of other sides if you don't like grits), trout was soft and flaky. It looked like it was cooked fresh. Overall, not a bad experience. I would rate it at 3.5 out of 5. I was a bit taken aback by the reaction at the hostess desk when I mentioned that I was concerned about a dog who was locked up in the car in their parking lot on this hot day. They reassured me that the dog is okay, so I assumed it was one of the employee's pets. With that said, the reaction was almost defensive as I was trying to bring their attention to a safety issue. It certainly darkened the overall experience, albeit not relevant to the restaurant itself."
