"Brought the family down to Helen for Christmas lights and shopping. The first 2 store owners I asked about food recommendations said “Bodensee!”, so we had to give it a shot. When we got there the line was out the door. Good sign number 1. Despite short staffing, which has become commonplace, the staff is very efficient in moving food and customers. I had the house sampler (I think it was called. 2 sausages and smoked pork chop with potato salad and sauerkraut. The wife had goulash and the shrimp scampi. All the food was amazing! Customer service was perfect. A few ladies on staff even gave my son a toy and some candy, which made his and our night. I would definitely recommend this restaura...

This place is outstanding. The meat is very rich, and you'll want to share the sampler plate rather than have one yourself. The potato pancakes are super well done, with a nice crisp but creamy middle.

You know when you have a meal that takes you back to your childhood and makes you want to cry? This is the most authentic German food in Helen and reminds me of when my late Omi used to cook. I come here every visit and it’s always delicious with great service. Our server James P was exceptional tonight. Highly recommend!

This is a real thing, small town, family property, authentic German restaurant with one of the best French onion soups I've ever tasted! We came with a party of 15 without announcement and the owner opened the second dining room for us instead of letting us wait. She took our drink job and turned on music. We have been supported by several other employees in addition to our server. The food was delicious! After the meal, the owner gave all the children in our party a little surprise and insisted that some of us have adults after the food toast. This was the best hospitality experience I had in many years. You make yourself a service when you visit Helen and don't eat here.
