"I come at least once every year when I visit my family and friends! The food is ALWAYS excellent (or the mgt will want to make things right) with affordable price points for every budget and the service is usually good at the location where I've dined for almost 25 years! They have several locations (some now in very touristy and/or upscale neighborhoods) but the location on 135th St. in Overland Park, Kansas, is my favorite. We had a 2-year-old with us last night who wanted to run all thru the restaurant (with his mom in hot pursuit) and nobody (neither the wait staff nor patrons) lifted an eyebrow in disdain! A winning dining experience for sure! ?"

Had the sizzling beef and shrimp. Good presentation. Flavor could have been a bit more pronounced but it was good. My wife enjoyed her Mongolian Beef quite a bit.

The server was very harried. The hostess was pleasant. The spring rolls were burnt. I asked for club soda and got sprite. My husband?s sweet and sour chicken was ok he said it wasn?t hot; just warm. My broccoli in brown sauce was ok as well; as you can see no skimping on the broccoli.

I rarely give a star. Our food came out cold. They gave it back and they did it. Came cold again. The waitress was embarrassing and got the chef who came out and admitted that she cooked the food in the morning in the prep, let it sit uncooled, but 'covered' and that is what they usually do and 'no complain usually '. It doesn't matter. Stay far away from this place until the health inspector shuts them off. Unbelievable.

"Ooo la la!. We joined another couple for our first visit to Café Provence last week and we were all blown away by the food quality, the service, the ambiance, and the overall experience. We never expected an exquisite gem like this to be nestled in a suburban shopping center. Walking in is like being transported to a classic French restaurant on the Left Bank. The artwork and the 1950s French fashion photos combined with the way the tables were set and arranged (and the de rigueur bar area) to provide a wonderful warm welcome. The food and wine were spectacular-classic French fare executed with skill and passion. This is a family-run restaurant and the love and care that go into each offering were front and center. Some favorites: a warm octopus salad that was perfectly grilled, seasoned, and sauced; the best escargots in town; a French onion soup that bursts with layered flavors; and unbelievably skillful handlings of salmon (seared, with cabbage, mushrooms and a sublime sauce), pork (braised, with chorizo and pea risotto), chicken (sautéed, with grilled asparagus and an otherworldly Morel cream sauce), and a cod special (seared, with sautéed mushrooms, prosciutto, and a magnificent sauce). Don't miss desserts! A local woman provides freshly made sorbets that are inventive and delicious. All the other desserts are prepared in house and are perfect ways to cap a meal, especially the banana crepes and the chocolate cake. The service is friendly, impeccable, and unobtrusive. It was a perfect (and unexpected) evening; we are already planning a return."

"decided to participate in Restaurant Week (first time ever) to help us mothers 70. celebrate birthday. We started the Rave reviews of Story when we were desperate in ideas (we live about an hour west of KC and were never in Prairie Village) and decided that we should be adventurous, though it was 6pm. Our first call was to Story and without a problem, secured the first available reservation at 730 hrs. how happy is that? Our ideal table was waiting for us and the place was full! Very sophisticated young hip crowds with a mixture of groups; Shop (backet and tie), couples date night and the table next to us was a girl night out. Fast, professional and recommended service (we needed help with champagne choices). We leave from the chef in his restaurant week festive dinner menu: Caesar salad or minenstrone soup starter and a selection of short ribs or swordfish entree. Special birthday news in chocolate was added to Mom's bread pudding dessert (which was included in the restaurant weekly menu). btw them HEAT the coffee cups so your coffee pipping hot when it comes to your table to not mention the accompanying house made sugar cubes! If you are looking for a culinary experience to impress the most valuable parents on their special day, this is a must! Only the right portion sizes, eloquently paired with sides and every bite combines the best of flavors... she has already asked if we could make a return visit to Valentine's Day. Bon appetite for all these foods this is a must try!"
