"A classic. They've been around 100 years, so they must be doing something right. Never had a bad meal here. And the cakes and pastries are delicious. Breakfast is really good here, but lunch is where it gets special. Deli sandwiches and salads piled high, with great sides that make it hard to choose. The soups are meals in themselves. I over-ordered and took mine to go. It was nearly 32 oz of tasty, hearty mushroom barley soup. The fries are delicious planks of fresh Russets with the skins on. The potato pancakes are dense and crispy and flavorful. I really like their pickles, which I think is the true test of any respectable delicatessen. The brisket is fall-apart tender and so good. Famous 4th Street Deli was fantastic in our visit yesterday. The vibe inside was great (tons of energy, lots of natural light, impressive baked goods counter) and the food may have been even better (loved the potato pancakes, corned beef hash, and breakfast sandwich). The only possible issue is that things can get pricey, but with massive portions and obviously good quality, I'd say things are justifiable. Will be returning!

Just a classic spot in Philly! Everyone should go at least once if they are from the Philly area. We got the BLT, matzoh ball soup, and potato pancakes. Everything was over the top delicious and giant as a true deli meal should be. The decor is what you want from a classic deli with famous people pictured all over the walls, classic booths and window views and even a table with a plaque from where Obama ate. Our only issue was it took awhile to get our waiter to come back to the table to get our check/ more drinks and stuff, but everyone was super nice. Of course I'll be back to try another meal!

Found out the other day that my boyfriend had never been here, so we changed that! We came in on Friday morning. We're able to find street parking easily which is always a good thing! We started with the pickles which I love! I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs. My boyfriend had the grilled Reuben with the potato latkes. We also had the fries. Everything was incredible, including the service! I love it here. Always have. It's beautiful to me-the windows, the light fixtures, the tile. Such a wonderful place to enjoy some really great food! Yes, it can expensive but the servings are huge. You can absolutely split a sandwich or you can take leftovers home and enjoy it again! Well worth it!

"We were there celebrating two birthdays. Our server Faith was wonderful. She was attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a table of 6 and ordered quite a bit of food, some of which was great and others lackluster. The bao buns were great and the small calamari salad was huge and those who had it said delicious. The spareribs were good as well as the edamame dumplings, although the way those were served made it hard to fully enjoy. Each dumpling should be on a individual type spoon so you can enjoy the soup part as well as the dumpling. The way they were served in one large bowl with only one spoon made it so the soup part is left at the bottom. I did request extra spoons from the expediter but they never came. The worst part of our appetizer course was somehow an item was switched to another in the computer and served to us. It had shellfish in it and that wasn’t known when someone at our table who doesn’t eat shellfish ate it. The sashimi was good but the tuna tartare thing was really bad. The entrees we had were the duck, which I was told was delicious, the miso cod, which was fishy, the whole fish which was tasteless, the lobster fried rice, which was okay but lacking flavor. The best dish was the black pepper beef, it was delicious and elegantly served. We had all the sides and all were quite good especially the eggplant and the wasabi mashed potatoes. It was a nice evening but it felt a little stale for a Starr restaurant."
