The Anker underwent a renovation a while ago but we hadn’t eaten there since. Thus it was a very pleasant surprise to sit in the clean, bright room and be tempted by so many local specialties that we didn’t know where to start. Ultimately we...all decided on the fried liver pieces with hash browns, starting off with composed salads. Everything was very tasty. The restaurant has a clever dessert menu; in addition to the normal-sized portions, you can order mini-versions of different kinds of mousses, and individual pieces of chocolate. Teufen is ideally located for relaxing walks in the unspoiled landscape of Appenzell. And Anker makes a perfect stop to enjoy a wonderful lunch. It was probably just a thermostat malfunctioning, but there was definitely an over-heating problem at Anker on the evening we dined there. Almost every diner was perspiring, despite having removed jackets or sweaters. Not quite dripping.
