This is the main reason why we start reviewing when we first sit down and finish review when we go out the door. Island Way is a casual restaurant/bar in the beach town of Oak Island NC. Besides the historic Oak Island Pier, this place has a simple exterior, but as always, not judge a book through its cover. Prices: A bit high, but this is a resort community. I was in Oak Island for a client who wanted to buy a house. I found this gem and absolutely loved it. Great food, excellent service and by the ocean. My meal was a simple fish and chips but it was excellent. Other entrees being carried to diners looked amazing. It fills quickly and I strongly suggest making reservations.

On arriving with reservations, lobby was full and the hostess and staff were scurrying around. Our server was wonderful and very prompt and attentive. The warm herb bread with whipped butter was amazing. One of us ordered flounder Neptune and the other had the combination seafood platter. On the Neptune, the asparagus spears were huge and perfectly seasoned. However, the flounder was a tad oversalted. On the combo platter, the scallops and shrimp were delicious while the flounder unfortunately was soggy and bland. A bit more seasoning and less steam would do wonders. All in all we enjoyed our visit and appreciate the hardworking staff.

Visited Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were greeted by Chris, General Manager. We sat right away and Matt was our server. Matt was very knowledgeable about the menu and so personal. He immediately sold me on the Pork Belly and it wasn't disappointed. We followed with two of the catches of the day, Red Snapper and a Tuna. The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Matt was very attentive, kept our glasses full and engaged in great conversation throughout the whole meal. We closed with chocolate martinis that were delicious.
