"We felt we deserved a treat! After hiking to Lens from Crans and climbing the winding path up to the Christ Roi and back down to the village, we were hungry and thirsty. More than ready for a good lunch! For just 25 francs, we were treated to a three course plat du jour. My friend chose Gaspacho to commence and I, a Hawaiian salad with prawns. Cordon bleu on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes, with garnish, followed. My choice was truite saumonee on a bed of risotto, with mixed vegetables. Dessert ah ...... an apricot panna cotta. House made iced tea accompanied our meal, all of which was rounded off by an smooth Italian expresso. Le Monument is at the heart of the picturesque village of Lens,...

A nice restaurant with the excellent hospitality of an Italian lady and her brother ; impeccable service and amazing wines of the region .But let’s talk about the superb dishes : an amouse bouche that takes you back to Italy ,a tasty variation on the foie gras ,a perfectly cooked pork served with vegetables and gourmet desserts with inventiveness and home made ice cream .I had to opportunity to snoop in other customers’s dishes and saw spectacular beef tartare served with fresh French fries and pasta dishes perfectly cooked.By the way the chef is Italian ! Very good prices in an area where the restaurants aren’t cheap! We will go back

"We have been coming back to Crans Montana every year for 16 years we know what restaurants are available in the area, but for some reason had never tried Le Farinet, so decided to give it a go and had high hopes given the good reviews. However, we had a very poor experience. The service was extremely slow, it took 20 minutes just to bring us menus (and we had a reservation). I then ordered a dish with the primary ingredient being seitan and when the food arrived, quickly realized the seitan was missing. I notified the waiter and he said oh, I’ll ask the chef and brought the food back to the kitchen after which it took 20 minutes for the dish to come back to me with its intended primary ingredient. Meanwhile, the rest of the people I was eating with were waiting to eat their food and of course 20 minutes later, their food was cold. Mistakes happen, I understand but the worst part about the experience was the response and attitude to the mistake. No coming to the table while I was waiting for the food to apologize, explain the mistake and even when the food finally came and we were quite cross with the delay, no real sense of an apology, just very cold and matter of fact. Finally, when we asked one waiter for the bill, we waited 20 minutes only to have another waiter give us the dessert menu and had to ask for it all over again. Additionally, even though our experience was tainted by the bad service, I can honestly say the food was bland. A few people at our table got the quinoa curry dish and there was little to no hint of curry flavor and the seitan, when it finally came, felt like it was just thrown in with a watery broth. So overall, although it’s in a great location and has a nice terrace, I wouldn’t recommend Le Farinet go to one of the other lovely restaurants in Crans Montana, and you’ll have a better experience."
