"Sajj used to be a new addition to the city's dining scene, but it has quickly become a staple. When I recently returned to work, I had to make sure to stop by Sajj. The restaurant follows the Chipotle model where you choose your base (salad or rice) and protein (falafel for vegetarians), and top it off with various toppings like eggplant, cauliflower, chickpeas, pickles, garlic hummus, and Baba ganoush. The menu can be overwhelming with so many options, which is why Sajj recently introduced a new vegan dish that has been well-received. Each dish comes with a side of lentil soup. Sajj has two locations, one in the Financial District (FIDI) and another in SOMA at 2. With many restaurants stil...

I stopped by for lunch and ordered three bowls of falafel salad with rice and veggies. It was decent, although the falafel was a bit too fried for my liking. The lentil soup was watery but tasty. Overall, it's a good option for a quick lunch in the area.

Sajj has quickly become a go-to spot for work lunches in town. It follows the Chipotle model where you can pick your base (salad or rice), protein (including falafel for vegans), and as many sides as you'd like. Some favorite sides include eggplant, cauliflower, chickpeas, pickles, garlic hummus, and baba ganoush. The menu options can be overwhelming, which is why they now offer a convenient vegan platter with lentil soup on the side. Sajj has two locations, one in the Financial District and the other in SOMA on 2nd street. With many restaurants still closed due to the pandemic, it was a pleasant surprise to find Sajj open and serving their delicious food.
