"I've only been to this bar twice, but it's definitely my favorite in Anchorage. Somedays are awesome at Taproot, somedays not so much. They bring in some excellent local (and foreign) talent. I would always check the calendar. The food is good and the beer selection is great. Never loved what the open mic night brings out. Also, I do not advise going here on the cold days as their heating system cannot compensate and you're left huddling near one of the space heaters.

We're visiting on Saturday. The bartenders are fantastic, and the waiting staff is equally impressive! The staff is attentive and humorous, and they have an excellent chef. The Salmon Tacos are amazing, and the Chili with reindeer sausage was delicious and flavorful. Great atmosphere, an excellent beer selection, wonderful music, and outstanding food! What more could you ask for? Be sure to give it a try; I highly recommend it!

came here for a drink, and what I found was a live band with French Canadian folk music. It was a darker atmosphere where everyone seemed really friendly and getting to know each other. You have a nice Lark beer selection on tap and a good bottle selection too. I couldn't try her food, but there was something called Spenard Dip that looked brilliant. I definitely come back and if the food is so good in the atmosphere, I will change my review to 5 stars.
