"This is the first restaurant we visit when we arrive in the Rio Grande Valley for the winter (November April). It 's also where we take visitors who are new to the area. The beans are delicious, as everyone knows, and we also love the giant baked potatoes , the steak, the brisket, the banana pudding, and the flan. Very relaxed atmosphere, and friendly wait persons; would recommend this place to anyone new to the Valley since everyone else knows about it."

Great place! Everything they say about the bean soup is true. Best I've had. Sides were great, awesome homemade bananna pudding, and great BBQ. The sausage was perfect, while the brisket and ribs were a bit dry. The great flavor made up for it though. Definitely a winner.

OK -flavor lacked. Ate dinner there tonight. had combo w/ brisket and chicken. everything was fresh and good, just not a lot of flavor -light seasoning. brisket and chicken very tender, but not so flavorful. sauce OK -not great. beans, potato salad, and slaw kind of bland. tepid recommend -no hurry to get back though if i do I'll get double brisket and skip the chicken.

I like it with an asterisk. To begin with, the beans they bring you are delicious. My wife and I both ordered beef brisket, and were both a little disappointed with the brisket being dry. The potato salad and cole slaw were both good. The drinks are brought in individual small pitchers with a straw for a neat unique touch. Overall, the place was OK, but if you're going to feature brisket, it ought to be consistently good and moist.
