We met in Germany for walking, chatting and wine drinking after We visited this restaurant for dinner. The main dish (braun trout) was acceptable, and the wine recommended by Roberto was good! The attention and service by Roberto was just excellent"

"Well, who likes it, but for food there is no recommendation from all of us. The Thüringer Hütte is located directly on the crest of the Rennsteig at 814 m altitude, on the border Adler and in the immediate vicinity of the Biathlonstadion Oberhof (DKB Ski Arena), with its bus and sledge, etc. The outing restaurant in the style of a rustic block house is not exactly small and has 50 seats in the main kitchen room, 75 seats on the emperor and approx. 100 seats on the terrace; acc. Operator of one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the region. After own advertising, the operator wants to pamper his guests with the delicious Thuringian cuisine. Only the delicious Thüringer specialties we did not know during our visit in early October. We travelled on a 14 km long hike from the New Excitement near Tambach towards Border Adler on the historic Kammweg, a small piece on the 169 km long Rennsteig, the most famous hiking trail in Germany and on recommendation for a late lunch to the Gasthof Thüringer Hütte. We had chosen, ordered and also reserved seats because we were on the move as a group. Unfortunately we were really disappointed here at Gasthof Thüringer Hütte. Since we were here in Thuringia, of course we ordered two Thüringer specialties. I had ordered "Thüringer Rostbratsl" (was very greasy) with roast potatoes and salad dressing, for €7,50 and my wife had fled to a so-called "Thüringer Bratwurst" with roast potatoes and salad dress for € 7,00. The Thüringer Rostbratsl” is a marinated pane of the pork neck, which is the second barbecue speciality of the country next to the Thüringer Rostbratwurst. The food was unfortunately only, an under average snack /cancer meal, it wasn't really warm (was probably kept warm for hours), was overgrown and just didn't taste us. As it is known that the eye eats, the dishes were not presented appetizingly. Both dishes were not expensive, but what we did here, as so-called specialty, was simply not worth his money. Also the highlight of the flyer, the homemade cakes, has not convinced us (also visually not). We were particularly annoying because we only left the Thüringer Hütte and saw a barbecue hut where a charcoal grill, a really delicious Thuringian sausage for 2.50. Of course we could not resist and besides our lunch we also enjoyed a sausage. From taste, this sausage was not approached, comparable to the sausage in the Thüringer Hütte. And this grill hut is therefore quite clear our recommendation for the small hunger between and also for those who want to taste an original Thuringian sausage from the charcoal grill. It is also easy to understand why this delicious sausage from the charcoal grill is not also served in the inn, as the grill station belongs to the Thüringer Hütte and is just a few meters away. For us, the Gasthof Thüringer Hütte as the only restaurant at the border eagle is clearly oriented towards the mass business and therefore only to a limited extent suitable for a good meal in a rustic feel-good atmosphere. This is also evident from the fact that there is only self-service at different counters. Therefore we cannot recommend the Gasthof Thüringer Hütte in a fair manner. Even if you can eat particularly cheaply here to satisfy your hunger. But for his thirst, for example an interesting and complementary note about the g. Thüringer Bratwurst: In the Volksmund it is also known as a caraway equator, because in the north of the Rennsteig, Caraway comes as an ingredient in the Bratwurst and here on the sunny side (south) of the Rennsteig. A small but fine difference that you will taste when you enjoy a real Thuringian sausage! Guaranteed!"
